I'm actually not sure. It's easy to say yes because of nostalgia but it isn't a new FF. I think there is a good chance that it won't. Internet hype is not real hype.

was there FF7 remake hype...before there was internet hype...

I'll clarify...( before the term internet hype was an actual thing?)

i remember people talking about FF7remake in 1999 and 2000....and when ps2 was released...and when ps3 was release...
I think the term "internet hype" may have orginated with FF7 Remake...

With 3 parts, it will definitely outsell FF XV..

But I think it has a good chance if we only look at the first game too..

Going by how Square elaborated on that statement, more like FF13. It's essentially going to be a franchise. So I think just using the first game would work fine.

FF13 wasn't intended as a 'franchise' or continueing series though, it was a game that had 2 sequels. And don't try and convince me that was their intention, story finished in 13 and 13-2 had completely different character as main playable ones.

With turn based battle system this time please ?

This is modern SquEnix we are talking about here, who just released a non-ATB FF which has sold well, they aren't making ATB ever again.

You do know Final Fantasy 13 was literally unveiled alongside two other Final Fantasy 13 games, right? Sure, Versus 13 and Agito 13 ended up getting renamed, but it's pretty clear that Square was intending to franchise 13 from the very beginning. 13 having a complete story doesn't really change that.

Final Fantasy 7 isn't really any different. Sure, all games will share the same world rather than just the same mythos, Square said that each game will have a complete story that will cover things from a different perspective. FF13 is a far more apt comparison then Hitman.

Even Square says 13 is their blue print for this:

The 3 part release will be tricky, but I still think it will outsell it!

Isn't FFVIIR sold in pieces, just like Hitman? Do we count this kind of sales differently than a completed game?

I think people are more comparing it to say.. FFXIII, FFXIII-2 etc.

They're telling the story in a trilogy of full size games is what I took from it.

I really can't understand why square Enix find it such an issue to have current gen graphics and the characters doing the turned based combat that was in the original FFVII. They were saying "it wouldn't seem right" to have the characters just standing there waiting their turn. I really don't see what the problem is, they could really put massive effects into the summons and materia magic attacks. It's annoys me because it's what people want but they just can't seem to get it into their heads.

It will sell more.

Only reason XV broke records was because it was the first one to release at the same time worldwide.

Since it's Nomura directing, i expect a much better combat system than what we got with XV.

Yes of course.

FF7 will sell like hotcake in japan and europe.
