Forums - Gaming Discussion - Kojima Was Locked in a Separate Room for Final Six Months of MGS5 Development

I'm surprised they couldn't at least give him a teleconferencing like they do with some people that commit (or accused) a crime who need to appear in court.

Was Johnny Sasaki keeping him guard?

Lol!

That is all.

Uh....not sure how much I trust Keighley on this one. Not that I have any desire to defend konami or anything, but Keighley was rock hard for Kojima during the game awards. Hell, he was positively gushing.

Going off him, talking about Kojima like a war Hero that was prevented from bringing the cure to cancer and end of world hunger to society by forces of evil, I think this might be a tad exaggerated.

I can buy it if only because there have been stories about how Konami basically acts like North Korea re: its employees for years now.

Haven't Kojima done all of it through MGS story?

Why was he locked in the room though lmao

6months is a long time.... The game could have been better if he'd just been allowed to actually do his job.

Its weird that his employers wanted him kept away, from work.

Show up for work... get told to go into a room and stay there, and only "work" via talks through a middle man, with konami either greenlighting said actions or not.

Stuff like that will make working a million times slower and harder.

No one really knows. However one thing is sure, there was some kinda fallout between konami and kojima.

Maybe they didnt like the plans he had for the game? and forced the issue, by extreme means like this.

There was talk about them not being happy with the costs it took to develope the game, at one point.

However the game went on to review really well, and sell extremly well too, so they probably earned enough they probably regret the way they acted.

Another sure thing, they wont ever be the same, without Kojima and now they have one hellva bad reputation.

I dont buy that for one minute. Incredibly hybolish

I wonder if that has something to do with how boring and poorly written the game was

The insiders information from last year about how Konami treated the developers were just awful (it almost seemed like modern slavery IIRC), so it's not that surprising.
