Basic design, but at the same time his eyes are so commanding and characterized, they strike fear into anyone who sees them.

As for why everyone thinks the original 151 are the best, it's simple: Because they are. Obviously nostalgia is a factor for some of us older users, but take a look at the designs. They are so unique compared to what you see after. It's like they stopped trying after the Orange League, because they knew the kids would like Pokemon no matter how bad the designs get, and to keep the games going with new ones.

Whenever I think of the original 151, I get this "rough" feeling. You know, all the Pokemon were tough and badass in their own right. When I think of the ones after that they all get like... puffy and... not tough. They try to be tough, but come off as jokes...

 That's not to say they ALL suck after 151/251,  as  I've seen some cool designs. There are just some though where I think to myself "Stop raping my child-hood plz".

Charmander is the best looking pokemon. I always started with Charmander, it was just so freaking awesome. Dragonite and Charizard look the coolest, though.

I actually had the chance to watch all the old episodes of the TMNT (vhs quality, but fantastic nonetheless), and the 2003 TMNT this past summer. Brought back old memories (and made new ones). Just wonderful. TMNT bliss!

I also like the water types, and water/ice dual types.......but not the ice types by themselves. I do like all the ice and water attacks though. 

 Dang, I think this one wins the award for most badass pokemon. That's a freaking awesome pic.

I liked the first 151 best myself. there are cool new pokemon (I like latios/latias for example) but I remember the good ol' days when you could usually tell the type of pokemon when you see it. I mean, now they have ones like sudowoodo (he's a friggin rock type) what's up with that?

 i have all of them excpet umbreon and espeon.
