Yep, looks like a return to 64/Sunshine/Galaxy style. I'm on board.

I had to look twice if it wasn't just 3D world but it might just be a new and real 3D mario.

It looked more like a concept thing. Really lacked the polish of a big Nintendo game even though its early footage.

yup, a real 3d mario and maybe at launch!!!

How did it lack the polish?

I saw a lot of detail. Check the slow-mo vid I posted  above, youˋll see tons of detail.

You think? I thought it looked very early in development.

I think that sums it up pretty well. Especially that second shot had a lot of hard edges on everything. When they said that this is is the reason the NX reveal was delayed, I believe it. They just now got it in a barely good enough state that it could trick people into thinking that it's complete for the 5 or so seconds it's on screen.

The first shot in the Mexico place looked really barren outside of the buildings. I can't figure out why the ground is just plain orange. Other than that I think it looks more like a traditional 3D mario game with the behind Mario perspective, and the second level reminded me of Shifting Sand Land from 64. Even though it looks more in the vein of 64/Sunshine, something about the game world seems very static. I think it will take time to see whether that's due to design or the game being in early development.

EDIT: More clarification in 2nd paragraph.

It might just be the hub area of the game? It will probably be a holiday 2017 game, so they still have 13 months.

Triple jump and new levels, so not 3D World.

Engine seems to be the same. Second scene looks very similar to 3D World. No complaints since it's my favourite 3D Mario game.

It just seems that the themes for these two levels seem too specific to be a main hub, unless the game is themed on Mexico and other random world countries, which could actually be pretty cool if done right.
Holiday 2017 sounds right. Can't imagine it being out in 5 months. Can't imagine a 3D mario game taking significantly more than a year from reveal to launch either.

I think I'll just wait for further judgement because it's really hard to tell from just these two shots. But at least it looks like a step in the right direction.
