So it is a Pascal's wager afterall then.

allright I'll play:

1- so if your father was a serial murder/rapist that would torture people for fun. if he would just for laughs burn your skin with with a cattle prod? would you love him still?

2- if your father had sexually assaulted your mother and as a result you were born. let's say he would have disappeared and you'd have never met him. would you love him now? really?

3- what if your father was the dictator of the country you live in, and unless you would worship him he would torture you forever. stick needles under your fingernails, your eyes, forcefeed you to make sure you'll live a long live of torture with no human contact with anyone. would that really be worth of worship?

honestly hope you're not 'offended' by my examples, but at least i know they really aren't going to happen. on the other hand apparently you believe the entity you worship will torture me forever and that's all good for you. on that basis alone it's kind of sickening the entire belief, hopefully you took a second to read this and realize what it really entails. i'm not losing any sleep though, because I know it's all crap

So in short, you would still hate God, because your readings of the bible make you think God is the vilain of it, that murder, rape and torture for fun.

I do not take away the right of understanding the way you do, but I would like to make a few considerations.

The Bible tells a complete history, each chapter deals with a particular subject, or even particular era in history.

So, if we would create a timeline, it will go like this:

Creation - The first Temptation - The falling of man - The promisse of redemption: This happens in the very first 4 chapters, so, through the 39 books of the OT you have a clifhanger, the waiting for the redemption God promissed, when he talked about the consequences of choosing to not trust Him.

We also stablish two things: Lucifer invented lying and God can not lie. Lucifer´s falling is described later in Isaiah and Ezekiel and his M.O is detailed in Job. The reason of this falling is detailed in the Letters of Paul, spoil alert: It was pride, he wanted to be God.

So, after that we have:

- The promisse to Abhraam, the Exodus of Moses, the Kingdom of God (Israel), the Judges, the royal line of David, the decadence of Israel and, finally, the prophets.

The murders you mentioned are, of course, part of the wars of conquest to stablish Israel Kingdom. And in no moment God laughed or found pleasure in these wars, but they where necessary. And the rest of the world belonged to the host of heaven, not god, the fallen angels.

All of this is in the book, to believe or not is a choice, but, as I said, to simplify it is not possible.

So, all the murder and violence is the consequence of the very first time we turned our backs to the real source of all life and light, and because now this world belongs to satan, till the final act of this epic.

We are not automata, we all have real freewill, but God, knowing everything, is not hostage in this amazing history: in the end every single piece will fit where He wants, because there is no stopping God.

The rageful greed Judah acted by choice, but also served his purpose, so did Hitler and any evil person. Cause there is no rebellion that can really harm God.

What is the meaning of it all, according to the Bible. To realize that we are sinners, evil, and left to our own devices, our destiny would be doom.

Being born again is this realization, followed by a newfound love and trust in God´s escape pod for all this desolation: the Lord Jesus Christ.

God´s plan of salvation is the only perfect way to redeem people that really trully love Him BY CHOICE, not because of fear. Because we see all around people that hate Him.

The born again fear His mighty, but love and trust Him deeply. A born again christian loves God so much that he is thankful for every breath God gives to him, and he realizes we are not deserving of any of God´s gifts, but we do deserve wrath.

This sounds disgusting to the unbeliever, and it is written that it must be this way in scripture. It is all there, there is absolutelly nothing not written.

The endless genealogy old Earth theories, the sciences objections that would give atheists a moral stand to deny God, it is all in prophecy.

This is, of course, our belief. One can deny it, but to oversimplify it is not wise at all, because it is not a simple text, neither it is a product of a dumb mind. the 40 authors of the Holy Bible where, at least the most impressive minds of the planet, or, they were inspired by God himself.

So, you have to understand what is going on in each chapter, what era is in effect.

It is like I tell you that your grandfather killed 57 people.

Then you tell me I am a liar and your father is no murder.

Then I tell you he is no murder, the 57 people were nazi soldiers and your grandpa was a GI in World War 2, he liberated a camp were 8000 jews would be executed.

So, you have to understand the context.

God said that He take no pleasure in the death of the one that dies, so to say he does is a lie.

And the only thing He can not do is lying and abiding in evil. The very things that give power to the evil one and his angels.

This, of course, is religion, one can just think it is a lie. But, it does belong in a lore that makes absolute sense in itself, and even if it was a work of fiction, any contradictions would be a product of not understanding it correctly, because, as a narrative, it is flawless, the most impressive work of art ever made. Specially when you think the authors took 5000 years to write it, in different eras and places.

One can think it is all a lie, but to attack the integrity of the text is just partial understanding.

I respect that you took the time to write all that you did here, and for that reason I will adress your points specifically. But please be aware that all of this takes an assumption that I find ridiculous. That is to say, finding any credibility on a book of tales from middle age ignorant sheepherders and their infantile ways of making sense of what they found to be a scary world. That without science to explain the most basic of phenomena we know today (like germ theory for example) they were left with only their imagination to create gods and devils, angels and demons, and a way to make themselves find some comfort in facing their own mortality.

So with that said:

1- I am well aware of the mythology of the JHWH or Jehwah or Jeovah or as the current christians call it, God with a capital G (which always sounded quite presumptuous to me, there have been plenty of gods throughout history, why the hell should they pretend their special snowflake god is anymore special than the rest)

2- Your assertion that Lucifer created lies... In your own religion, your god created everything. Not just rainbows, butterflies and nutella, but also cancer, diarrhea and Justin Bieber. The people who made up that religion also made up their god to be all knowing, all good and all powerful. Not to bore people with it here I would just recommend you'd read up a little on the "problem of evil". It should be a good way to at the very least realize why that specific Abrahamic god can not exist.

3- If any of these supernatural entities actually existed, what exactly makes you think that the 'good guy' is actually this JHWH? How do you know that in that supposed cosmic battle the good guy actually lost and you are now worshipping the evil one? Because it's written in a book?

4- So using your WW2 example, if the nazis had won the war, don't you think they would make sure to write the books in a way to make them look like the heroes and everyone else the bad guys? Are you aware that the Jewish hatred that Hitler spewed actually has it's roots in christianity and how they made the entire Jewish people the 'bad guys' for supposedly killing their 'savior'? Do you know that Jewish people actually weren't able to own land and had to be stuck with what was considered 'unholy' works, like moneylenders (bankers)?

5- If you hear some 'voices' in your head telling you it's god, how do you actually know if it really is god? how do you know it's not the devil? how do you know it's not aliens? how do you know it's you on magic mushrooms?

6- do you think something is good just because 'god' tells you it's good? again, how do you know the book you're following doesn't actually come from the 'devil'?

7- actually if you have read the bible you wouldn't have said the authors were brilliant in any way. it's terribly written, with an absolute innane narrative, full of contradictions on the story and in which most of the time it's spent namedropping whose son of whom owed something to the X, son of Y, first born of Z. Just randomly open the bible and read a few verses and you'll see what I mean. The only people who think the bible is written wonderfuly are people who have never actually f'n red it. It's full of plot holes everywhere (as you would expect from the ramblings of uneducated people making shit up as they went and telling those stories orally from generation to generation)

8- finally, just to not get even longer than we went, no I don't hate that god anymore than I hate mickey mouse. it's a myth, a fanfiction, a story, much like thousands of gods story that people made up throughout the world. as a character in a fiction I find it extremely dull in all honesty.

I'm not exactly religious, but sometimes I feel like another force is at work when things go wrong or right. Sometimes I admit it is my fault when things go wrong, other times it feels like something I or anyone else couldn't control and it was way too coincidental.

Very interesting, scripture tells us that there is a war going on in the ethereal plane, a struggle between good and evil forces. I myself sometimes feel evil or good very close to me, like almost watching me.

Like last night I felt like something entered my room when I layed down to sleep. Then I started to praise God and Jesus and call for protection and the thing left.

It is weird, one must numb himself to be able to not realize that there is a world beyind the physical, is not the other way around.

With all the distractions, tv, games, eletronic devices, it is getting easier to not perceive the unknow, but it is still there.

Why is there a struggle between good and evil ??

Also the things you describe as having experienced is not a proof or any indication of god. It can be a chemical imbalance in your brain. Making you see things and feel things that are not real. Too much Dopamine can cause that which also causes euphoria and fear. Often fanatic Christians do have those traits in their behaviour. Not saying that this is the case with you, just saying it would be a simpler explanation for your feelings.

Interesting question. I'm sure there are interesting answers in this thread, so I will tag this for later reading with the following:
One possible answer: If there was clear evidence that one god existed yet everything else in this world would stay the same. (Quite hard to do. Let's say that for example all humans would feel and hear her/him/it in their head all at once, once a year, like a global absolute delusion. This would leave clear and unequivocal evidence that god did exist.) It would be quite difficult to love god the way the world today is. Of course, if all would know that one god existed there would be very different problems in the word. One can try to imagine how people of different languages and cultures would still end up in religious war as everyone would know that there is one god and it's the same for all. I presume there would be fighting over who is the true representative of god on earth, unless of course, in my example, god would make it clear who that person is or isn't in its annual "speech in the head".

Perhaps this novelette (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hell_Is_the_Absence_of_God) is an interesting read on the subject as it appears to touch on it in a way (although I only read the very beginning of it, so not sure how much it's on this subject, but the premise seems to fit with this thread.)

There are no evidence that god is real or else i would already be a follower

If an all powerful god responsible for the existence of reality was indifferent, it wouldn't require the worship or adulation of mortals.

But I get the impression that this is a Christian God question because of the OP, so it's safe to assume we're supposed to be discussing a hypothetical personal, sacrificial god made flesh rather than the Hebrew sky god YHWH.

Only read up to page 6, afters reading all that, the funny thing is that people think of God as a person, and that humans have the brain power to understand God. Lol.

If i did meet God, i would just thank him for his creation, that would mean i was created by him so a thanks is in order, the rest, I'm not gonna pretend i can understand the creator or his actions in favor or against his onw creation. My father did many things that i interpreted as against me and that hurt me, but i now as a adult am certain that he did not make one decision with bad intention to hurt me or my feelings, and now that I'm a adult he let's me do what ever I want, and when i do mistakes and hurt myself, my dad doesn't feel happy about it, he surfers with my suffering, but that doesn't change him into take my life as his own. If God exists, i think he his like my father, let's his creation do what ever they want and helps if he can but it will not take the direction of his creation to his own hands because the purpose of all this wasn't that, is exactly what we have now, we can do what ever, bad to us or others or good to us or others. The view that the creator has to take care of his creation forever never existed here in this universe nor anywhere else.

Forgive my poor English.

Proudest Platinums - BF: Bad Company, Killzone 2 , Battlefield 3 and GTA4

As a raised catholic, current "I dont really care about religion" guy, I would treat him/her as fairly and indefferent as any other person in the planet (that I havent met). I generally treat people nicely, anyway.

But I wouldnt give someone special treatment for their "power" or knowledge. Only if they deserve it or for their attitude.

Those signs are nothing but opinions and interpretations.

God is basically a Yandere. You can love him because he loves you but as soon as you stop loving him, he will torture you. That of course begs the question how true can someone's love be if it immediately turns into torture if it's unrequited.

Actually, the Christian god will torture and muder you even if you worship him.

The Christian god murdered/allowed to die 31 children in a church bus

In my country people have died drowned while performing baptisms.

He gave you the ability to have a will and freedom and he can just as easily make you do whatever He wants.

Did your god really give freedom of will?

Then Judas had freewill.

If Judas had a freewill then the christian god's plan of having Jesus on the cross had a chance to fail as it was based on Judas betrayal. Therefore the chistian god's plans have a chance to fail.

Jesus told Judas that he would betray him to the Romans because the christian god supposedly knows it all.

If Judas had a chance to opt against betraying Jesus this means that the christian god cannot know it all and arrives to false conclusions about information like things that will happen.

The christian god that supposedly knows-it-all had the plan of killing Jesus, he knew what would happen if he put him in front of Judas, he knew Judas would betray Jesus, god manipulated Judas by putting Jesus in front of him.

The same thing applies to Adam and Even and the Forbidden Fruit. Your god goes away and then returns asking "What happened here!?" Wait, I thought this god was supposed to know everything. Maybe he feigns ignorance by lying about what he knows or don't.

God is no different than a man who buys a bucket of KFC, puts it inside his dog's cage, goes away and then berates and curses the dog for eating the chicken when the man knew the dog would eat the chicken in the end.

And yet christians apply human feelings to this god that is supposed to be beyond anything human.

The chrstian god gets angry and kills people.

The christian god wants to be worshipped and if you don't he sends you to eternal damnation.

The christian god regretted making mankind because of some Forbidden Fruit, regret is the feeling of thinking one has made a mistake, the christian god believed he made a mistake.

If he didn't make a mistake then he tends to fail at assessing what is a mistake and what is not.

The christian god is very human and every attempt to claim he is beyond all things human is nothing but a mere attempt to put him away in a safe place where the flawed writing in the Bible cannot be scrutinized and the inconsistencies and plotholes exposed.
