I read an article discussing the question "Can Playstation 4 win this generation with the new Xbox coming out next year?" I will not give my opinion yet, but please vote.

Yes... I expect Scorpio to do well. Not make up the distance of 20-30 million consoles by its release well though. That's simply unrealistic.

Specifically in the North American market I certainly wouldn't rule out the Scorpio winning back a lot of players who migrated to the PS4.

At this point the disparity between Sony's sales and its competition is likely reaching a peak with a decline soon to follow. I imagine it'll continue to comfortably lead the others for some time, though, with no real end in sight there.

The one question mark for me is how well Sony's VR is accepted, as it could potentially be a big selling point. I know I personally plan to switch to the Scorpio given the (presumed) superior hardware unless the VR looks too cool to pass up, so I wonder how many others are thinking similarly.

Context? Are we talking globally, or globally in the USA?

The answer for the former is definitely no. For the latter it's maybe.

THe Xbox brand has always trailed behind the playstation brand, and by a lot. I don't see xbox gaining over 20mil over a dominant ps4. With no evidence of a truly remarkable and significant differentiating factor, xbox is stuck at second behind sony.

Yes the Ps4 will be the winner

Can you please provide a source so we can see what the article says in detail?

I would, but I can't find it anymore. It was on N4G. I read many comments though, and they were so against the article. There were some putting down the author. It may have been taken down. I read it and a few minutes look ater it was gone. I was originally going to post a link. Sorry.

It didnt specify, but I assumed worldwide because ut didn't mention any country.

Is it even a question? PS4 is too far in and has too loyal of a fan base. All Microsoft has is the american loyalty. Everything else is Sony territory. The only question is whether the new XBox will be strong enough to take back North America from Sony. The rest is lost cause.

Unless of course Microsoft pulls a rabbit out of it's ass like the Wii.

Or if Microsoft buys a major third party publisher/game. I can totally see Microsoft doing this if it means gaining more momentum.
