Dude. You keep telling us that you are a Christian and that people are super mean to you for being a Christian, but you admit that you'd actually not only shoot but kill a person? Have you even read the bible? |
Like a hundred times. And keep reading everyday, and listen to it in audio to fall sleep. Went through Revelation for the 27th time last night.
I can quote you word by word from Hosea and the Gospels. You have to understand how to rightly divide the Word of truth, or else you will think there are contradictions in the word. There are none, but a timeline.
You are alluding, of course, to the teachings of the Lord Jesus, to be meek and humble. I of couse, live by that. To give to those that ask, to lend without hoping to recieve, to be good to the evil. Bu this does not mean to let rapists rape us or robbers to rob you. We can, of course, avoid the evil that men try to do. You have to use your common sense or else you act like a fool, and that the Bible forbids.
I believe in self defence, yes, against thieves and criminals, rapists, yes.
But I also believe in loving my enemies, doing good to those that hate me, honoring my parents, fearing God, trusting that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Saviour of everyone that believes.
I do carry a retractable baton all the time with me, because I am a courthouse officer (Brazil) and sometimes in the investigations people get kinda agressive. I mean, in the streets, when I am trying to find the thugs and such.
I do not see how that conflicts with being a christian. Not only to defend myself, but if I see someone in danger, I can also help. I live in a resort town, full of tourists, so sexual violence is a common thing here. I think every decent citizen should carry a retractable baton. Not to do Watch Dogs like vigilantism, but to defend people that need and ourselves.
I am not a serial killer or anything. But, yes, I believe in self deffense.
To be fair with you, I am still a young christian, I am still 34 years old and full of energy. As I become a elder, I expect to learn more and more. Maybe someday I will have faith enough to not try to defend myself. But learning does not save anyone, only the Lord Jesus Christ sacrifice and ressurrection saves, without Him I would be hellbound for sure.
Being a christian is the realization that we are so evil that we deserve to go to hell, therefore, we need a way out, a saviour. That way out is Jesus Christ. If you are not a sinner, if you are not evil and deserving of hell, then you are not ready to become a christian.
Being a christian is not being better than the others, is realizing you are so bad that you deserves eternity in hell.
I repented of my sins. Those that have no sins can not repent. If you are a good person, then you do not need a saviour. Get it?
That is what I realized and that is why I became a christian, cause the Lord Jesus Christ did not die for the righteous, but for the sinners.
Being born again is a supernatural event, it is not something you realize with the rational mind, it is like a storm that comes and does not matter how much you hide, you can not deny it, it will get to you.
All you can do is wait for the Lord to change whatever He wants in you, there is no trying, it just happen. And after that, when you sin, you fell like crap, you realize that is no longer you thar sin, but the death living in you. You become two persons, living two lifes, a life for Christ and the life of flesh. And you struggle between both, till the day you die.
The perks are the miracles, the visitations of the Holy Ghost, the assurance of salvation. It is not for everyone, but it is pretty awesome.
