Forums - Politics Discussion - Bumble bee is proposed for U.S. endangered species status

From Australia here, one day I was talking to a bunch of nurses at a hospital in regional Australia, one of the nurses was also a bee keeper, she said farmers would hire out her bees to pollinate crops, so she would put the hive in a truck take them to the farm and place the hive there

One day a canola farmer asker her to place her bees near his crop, but what happened next amazed them all, the bees would only hover over the crop and not land, it was later discovered that this farm had planted one of the first GM crops in the area, if the bees had landed they may have died from the pesticides coming from the GM plants themselves. Apparently the seeds or seedlings have to be bought from Monsanto or affiliates, and self-propagation of the crop by the farmer isn't an option in most situations

In London UK you hardly see any Bumble Bees tbh I think they're classed as approaching endangered in the UK as well.

If you like bumble bees plant some lavender in your garden. I have hundreds of bumble bees in mine every year and all they do is flying to the lavender I have.
