even as a serious gamer, i never understood the purpose of mechanical keyboards. the whole idea of them just seems like overkill. people say they are better for gaming but i have never had any problems with a normal membrane keyboard nor have i ever thought that it needed improvement. and from the experience i had using older mechanical keyboards, my experience was worse than a membrane. maybe newer models have something that im missing, but it just never stood out as something necessary to have

I bought a Razer Blackwidow Stealth last year with my new rig, it really is a different world with mechanical keyboards, the reason I chose the stealth version is that I write a lot and the noise is a bit annoying without gaming sounds covering them.

I still have a couple 'vintage' mechanical keyboard. Are they worth something nowadays? :p
They can be fragile, keys coming off, wonky space bar after a few years. They're easier to get crumbs out of though. My laptop's B key hardly worked for a month because of something stuck underneath that wouldn't come out. It Fixed itself in the end luckily. Shaking out a mechanical keyboard after a year was kinda disgusting lol.

I hope the folks that is living with you is ok with hearing those keys from across the house.

I also bought my first mechanical keyboard a couple of months ago. CM Storm Quickfire Rapid. I love Cherry MX Blues, that click is so satisfying.

I really value the silence of a keyboard.... as weird as that sounds, that matters more to me that how speedy they are.
Most games I play I prefer to use a controller anyways so.... yeah.

The same is true of mice.... I dont like mouses that make horribly loud click sounds. The less noise the better.

I can't deal with keyboards with keys like that for some reason. I just don't feel like I'm actually typing. Then again, i get kind of stressed out by thre clicking of mechanical keyboards too. I guess i just need a regular keyboard to keep me from going too crazy. Lol

The shorter keys is a nice thing, you dont need to push your fingers as deep for it to reg. it.

They arnt overly hard to push in either, and the aluminum makes its sturdy enough even though its so slim.

I find my wrists like these smaller lower keyboards (i never use those feet on keyboards to stand them up, its not natural to have your wrists pointing upwards)

Its a good keyboard, Id recammend one to anyone looking for a keyboard.

Your supposed to sit so your arms "rest" on the table... if your one of those people that prefer to sit up high and well above the table, with the keyboard below them maybe its differnt, but for me these slim keyboards are wonderfull.

I have had a CM storm mechanical keyboard for a few years, its amazing, mechanical keyboards truely make everything on the pc smoother, and in games, its just the best :)

Lol people complaining about the noise. I learned to type on one of these as a kid

Frigging hammers getting stuck with the wrong key combinations, but it was perfect to emphasize angry text! Very satisfying. Why are modern keyoards still not pressure sensitive. No need to highlight bold, just hammer away :)
