Forums - Sony Discussion - Developers are NOT allowed to charge you money for Pro update

I doubt they are gonna allow such a horrible thing to do outside old games, otherwise I would be impressed and not in a good sense.

edit: misread.

People better hope it's true if they want to see more released games getting patched. Exactly what is the incentive for developers to put in extra work on old projects for nothing? I'm assuming there will be no complaints when very few games get patched? Of course ... of course.

You should quote someone because your post doesn't asnwer the OP, that suggest any game with a Pro mode would be able to be charged an extra for, which gladly seems to not to be true.

The article must be wrongly translated if what the others say is true, I browsed trough some forums and the discussions are deffenitely about games released before the release of the PRO console and not future games, that should be free.

I'm not sure however if its true developers are allowed to charge for patching old games, might have to wait for a clear official statement on that

Delete that quote please. I misread. :)

Seems fair, and this will make sure all devs get interested in the process. Also, it will make the enhancements more visible, since it is a hard thing to charge good money in exchange for nothing at all.
A 5 bucks fare seems reasonable... Maybe 10 if they add something extra like a side story or something.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

Sounds like it's false but if true we shouldn't support this. Developers should make extra sales by making a pro version and if they use the excuse that they need to cover costs then they can stick their game up their butt sideways and Sony deserves any flack for supporting this type of practice.

From what I know as a PS4 dev, that's not correct.

Might be a few loopholes here and there but it certainly won't be standard.

I'm sure newer games devs will now add doing Pro updates into their budget. But that's nice that devs wont be charging for older games that's already been released since nobody likes to work for free.

So title seems incorrect in this thread.

Devs CAN charge, maybe similar to DLC, for a pro-upgrade on an existing game.
Devs CANNOT charge for future games as it should be part of the dev process.
