Based on the slides the Tegra X2 is only a 625 GFLOP GPU. If this ship is in the NX. It's most likely going to have a lower clock speed to reduce the power draw. It doesn't seem to be much of an improved over the Tegra X1.

As for DMP it's not just the prior relationship, the timing of it's release is also a factor. It's not like they chip was announced yesterday. It was announced back in May. The performance in comparison to Tegra X1 and X2 is comparable and it would allow for 3DS backward compatibility. In addition, the M3000 supports UE4 and Vulcan amongst other things.

This sounds more plausible to me than any of the Nvidia talk people have been throwing around tbh, I know DQXI utilizes UE4.

Even Tegra X1 also suport UE4 and Vulcan also DirectX 12, OpenGL 4.5, CUDA, OpenGL ES 3.1. X2 most likely have some more advanced support and characteristics.

Does anyone worry about the 50 GB/s memory bandwidth of this new Tegra X2 ?
It just seems low compaired to the PS4s 176 GB/s.

Not at all, Xbox One has 68 GB/s while Wii U has only 12.8 GB/s, so basicly Tegra X2 has 4x more time memory bandwidth than Wii U.

This is one more reason why most likly NX will have Tegra X2 not X1, X1 has only 25 GB/s memory bandwidth. Actualy X2 memory memory bandwidth will probably be biggest gain for NX comparision to X1.

The Xbox One also has that eSRAM that gives a extra 102 GB/s, along with their 68 GB/s from the DDR3.

Saying the XB1 only has 68 GB/s memory bandwidth is abit miss leading.

Im surprised the Wii U only had 12.8 Gb/s....  O_o

The Tegra Parker/X2 isn't much of an improvement over the X1 in terms of graphics power, and most of the gains in compute (GFlops) are likely due to the much stronger CPUs.

In my opinion, if Nintendo goes with Nvidia, the X1 would be the better choice. That said, if Nintendo is serious about that Supplemental Compute Device, the beefier CPU of the X2 could come in handy to avoid some bottlenecks... but at that point memory bandwidth may be their biggest problem.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Well to be fair Wii U also has eDRAM, that is similar to that eSRAM in XB1.

From NeoGaf is seems like the Parker Tegra (aka: Tegra X2) is 625 GFLOP (FP32) performance (vs 500 GFLOP for the Tegra X1) with a nice boost in CPU power and double the memory bandwidth to 50GB/sec.

This is great for a portable, though likely it would have to be underclocked.

However, it's not really that great for a console.

This also probably explains why DQXI on the NX has to be a custom version ... it likely cannot run the PS4 version.

It only explains you're a stupid troll with an agenda. NX is a home console much more powerful than ps4.

While Nvidia remained hush on anything NX related, one interesting tiny blip did come out of the Hot Chips conference aside from just a general idea of what the Tegra Parker (X2) can do. This slide mentions "sufficent thread count for automotive and gaming applications" for the upcoming Tegra X2/Parker ... now we know they're not making more Shield consoles, so likely this is referring to the Nintendo NX.

Because reasons.

Based on the fact that they're delivering an SoC in the first half of 2017 ...

So basically based on nothing. Quite possible that DMP spurned by Nintendo for Nvidia also simply said "fine, we'll just make our own device", the way that's on their website implies it's some shitty low budget tablet.

Getting back to Tegra/Parker, Nvidia apparently said today the Parker/Tegra can get up to 1.5 TFLOPS, but they are obviously talking about FP16 mode there, so that would mean 750 GFLOPS in more standarad FP32.

750 GFLOPS .... welp. If they can deliver that in "docked/home power" mode I'll take it I guess. Shitty home performance given all things but at least it's a reasonable upgrade on the Wii U and not the GameCube to Wii all over again. I guess it could be the whole "Nvidia flops are 30% better than AMD flops" thing, lol, in which case, the reports of it being a little less than an XB1 would kinda line up exactly.

"So basically based on nothing"

Like everything you say.

"Shitty home performance given all things but at least it's a reasonable upgrade on the Wii U and not the GameCube to Wii all over again."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

750 gflops is LESS  of a jump from wii u than wii was to GC. Go home, you're drunk. It's so pathetic that you actually think Nintendo's next home console will not be a lot more powerful than ps4, or moderately more powerful than ps4, or equal to ps4, or weaker than ps4, or weaker than X1, or only a little stronger than wii u (625-650 gflops).
