Really? Is that why Wii U is selling so well? Oh, wait, you're talking about the "casuals" again, aren't you? Yeah, they have moved on to mobiles and aren't coming back to consoles any time soon. Face it Rol, what made the Wii so successful won't work again. There is no new market for Nintendo to tap into this time around. OR do you have some secrets you're keeping from us?

That's quite a surprising response from you, considering that as recently as a few days ago you've acknowledged that Pokémon Go is having a positive effect on 3DS hardware and software.

It's not like the sales really spiked though. I think it's a great plan for Nintendo to drive sales of their HW and SW through a precense on mobile, but it's not like most of those playing Nintendo games on mobile will get out and buy the NX. Not even 50% of them will, not 25% either... Do you honestly Nintendo will see Wii like sales again by trying to appeal to the "casual" market again? I'm genuinly curious =)

It sounds as if they've published mostly "casual" games? In that case, I'm not at all encouraged by his statement that he's feeling pretty enthusiastic about the NX

Ey now, Manhunt 2 and Bully! ;)

Bully really came to the Wii? :P I most admit, I'm shocked!

Well, to be honest, going mobile is quite unnintendo as well ;)

But, Scorpio as far as we know, is supposed to support all Xbox One consoles so it's not really an entirely new console. While PS Neo is being touted as a premium PS4 with added VR support, etc. Not a new console. So the games, more or less, will remain the same. In retrospect, the Neo won't be the PS5 and the Scorpio isn't the Xbox Two for very different reasons but it doesn't effect how NX might recieve ports from either console/company.

Something tells me NX is going to do something that ensures its own shelf life without having to face a failure and quickly band together to make a new console. Something tells me that NX isn't your ordinary console.

first off --  wrong wrong wrong.  all vr we've seen so far is on the standard ps4.  no one has seen any vr on the neo yet.  the standard ps4 can do vr just fine.  it's is the scorpio that is being touted as adding VR support.  ..and speaking of scorpio we don't really know what ms is doing with that since they've released contradictory statements.

secondly, the roadmap i've seen for playstation has neo released this year as the "premium model" while support must include the regular old ps4 as the "base model".  in 3 years (after the regular old ps4 has been on the market for 6 years or an entire generation) the neo is demoted to the "base model" and trinity is introduced as the new "premium model".  a new half gen every 3 years.

i mean,. nintendo could do this schedule as well but it seems entirely unnintendo to follow that.

Yes...all we've seen is a Standard PS4 but if you've been listening to sony reps, they're saying it's NOT a PS5. So it's a mid level console with upgraded specs...which um...logically would increase VR functionality if there is an increase in terra flops. So unless Sony wants to ailenate 40 Million customers and only make a new game format available on PS NEO, it's going to be a premium ps4 that supports all PS4 software in some capacity.

Scorpio has been said concretely that it is trying to put an end to generations. It makes sense. They don't want to send their install base down back to 0 with every new console. That's the premise of Scorpio.

The fact of the matter is, if NX adopts x86 and has at least 8 GB of Ram, it'll be fine for a while. 3 years isn't much but again, we still don't know what NX is so we can't say if it doesn't have a plan to make sure it doesn't become obsolete in the near future, most notably, the cloud gaming patent.

No. Before the WiiU came out theres was such big expectation. As of now I need dates, numbers, lineup and hardware description. Then I'll believe.

neo is ps4.5.  at some point the orignal ps4 will have to be dropped,.. it's not going to be sony's last console ever for all of eternity.

ps4: 2013 - 2016 premium model.  2016 - 2019 - base model.  2019 - no longer supported

ps4 neo: 2016 - 2019 premium model.  2019 - 2021 - base model.  2021 - no longer supported

ps4 trinity: 2019 - 2021 premium model.  2021 - 2024 - base model.  2014 - no longer supported

ect and so forth.

same plan as scorpio maybe depending on which statement you beleive.  "the end of generations".

and has,.. vr on neo can have a higher framerate on neo but vr is required to be a stable 60 fps on the original ps4.

so all i'm saying is in 2016 the NX (if it launches close to original xbox one specs) might be too low to port to since the rest of the guys are a half gen (or more) ahead of them.

The only reference point we've got as of now is the UK where sales more than doubled. If that isn't a real spike, then I don't know what to tell you.

I could ask you the same question: Do you honestly believe Nintendo will see Wii-like sales by trying to appeal to the... let's call it PS/Xbox market for simplicity's sake?

Oh wow! From what I heard (didn't do much digging though, mind you) it was just a bump. I Was wrong. That's pretty... fantastic. But such a trend won't last long. Probably, I should add since I apparently don't know what I'm talking about here. Doubled in sales? Will be interesting to follow that turn of events.

Aaaw, that's not fair; I asked first ;) I think Nintendo will try something new, like they always does. The question is what. IF, and this is a pretty big if, they had a powerful console and good 3rd party backing they could outsell PS4, I'm sure of it. All the 3rd party games AND the 1st party line up... What could beat that?! The sad thing about Nintendo is that they're always digging their own grave. A quick look at N64, GC and Wii U tells you that. But I'm still doubtful they'll be able to bring back the casual market - even if they do try. That's a very fickle market. I'm not sure if I've answered your question, but neither did you ;)

You have it all wrong! Let's remember that PSVR was first called Morpheus, and if Neo is the PS4.5 Trinity cannot be PS5 - it wouldn't make sense from a naming perspective. Both Morpheus and Neo are different devices, not a succession of devices following one another, they're integrated yes, but aren't the same thing. Thus, Trinity can only be... Their next handheld!! :O GASP!

If they're using Trinity as a code name it better be in reference to some handheld device or something :P

Ye but Scorpio is so powerful that neo don't even matter. Everyone's gonna move to it...
