They said generation (aka my generation) would be the first to do worse than their parents. It wasn't true then and it isn't true now.

Relax dude, you're young and way too jumpy. The world has always been fucked up. You think 100 years ago or 50 years ago or 80 years ago was any better. But there's also plenty of good in the world too. Bring positivity into the world.

The truth right here.

You just never heard about the world being fucked up way back then....because news moved at the speed of a horse and a sailing ship and lots of things were just ignored.

It was plenty fucked up and it's well documented! People just choose to forget.

It's more in your face nowadays. It seems like the world is more fucked up because we can see more of the bad things when they happen. Ever notice how the promo/first 10 seconds of the local news is "7 people are DEAD after ..." and any good news is saved until the 20 minute mark just before "here's Tom with Sports"? Bad news is good news for media, it's all about how you perceive it.

I thought this was going to be about pokemon go threads.

But yeah, the violence needs to end!

I thought it was going to be about all the "Nintendo should go third party" threads because of the success of Pokemon GO.

I don't know...  My generation (Generation Y) might be the first to do worse.  They've kept wages stagnant for decades in USA and the income gap between the mega rich and everyone else continues to rise.  Another crash is probably coming soon considering we love our bubbles and the inequality seems to only continue to rise.  Health care cost, mass printing of dollar (inflation), college cost are all weighing down on the have nots.  It isn't all doom and gloom but it isn't a pretty picture either.  Basically, we better get our shit together.

Never heard the Taiwan one. Was it a terrorist attack?

Based on articles I've read, it looks like an accident. Thank goodness it was not a terrorist attack because my extended family lives in Taiwan.

@OP I understand your concern and outrage, but tackling these problems require a lot of patience and the capacity to swallow hard truths. The headlines that you posted in the OP is only the tip of the iceberg, I'm afraid.

The muslim religion is the problem and those teaching it, not education in general.

If it was easy to teach extremist to behave, we wouldnt be haveing all these attacks.

You cant reason with them, they are set in their ways and think they know better.

I am not a muslim but I can say thinking like this is part of the problem. The Muslim religion isn't the problem, the problem are those that take convenient parts of said religion and teach extremist behaviour. Funny enough, you also acknowledged extremism in your post.

Personally, I feel anything, anything at all done in the name of religion, race, culture or tradition is the problem. All those things are the most backward thinking affiliations imaginable. Especially when you consider they are all based on where you are born into. Which is something no one can control.

But yes, human beings seem to be idiots. Self destructive idiots.

The only way I see these things going away is unfortunately something highlyunlikely. What we need is some alien race to come and invade us and wipe out about half our population. When we have to unite to fight an enemy bigger than our collective selves only then can we realize that these petty things we kill each other over are just that..... petty.

It is all relative. What era of human history would you prefer? Personally find the 21st century as the best time to be human even with all its issues.

"26 dead in Taiwan tourist bus fire"

"Erdogan ready to reintroduce death penalty"

"Millennials will be first generation in history to be worse off than parents"

"Terror attacks in bangledash"

"Fugitive rabbi wanted for sex crimes"

Why?

Is this necessary?

Are humans this dumb?

Just why?

Can we please just STOP?

Sometimes I just look at recent headlines and just facepalm. How the hell are humans not extinct yet? Is it truly possible for so much to go wrong at once?

It's just shocking. Perhaps we should cut off education and just teach everyone the golden rules:

1. Don't be a dick

2. Don't kill people for no reason

3. No one cares what your religion(or lack of religion) is

4. Stop being an idiot

5. DON'T BE A DICK

Maybe I'm the only one, but my parents taught me to be a nice dude and not kill others _(ツ)_/

This seems bad but honestly things have been much worse for us. This is the most peaceful time in our history. It just seems so bad because we have so much access to all the events going on in the world. Most of the stuff you listed we wouldn't have even heard about 20 years ago.

I was listening to a podcast this morning. The guy said "I'm black. If they invented time travel, there's not even that many times i can go back to!" Truth be told, I don't think things have ever been better than they are right now. We were just less aware.
