It is they are banking on the fact that XV will be a sucess and that ppl will want to buy another game with Final Fantasy in the title after XV. Now if XV sucks then Square is in troble but they believe in XV enought to try this strategy.

I really hope this is good and turns into a proper series for them.

It's actually catering to two different overlapping fanbases.  

There's a crap ton of rpg fans that won't buy XV because it's not turn based and a crap ton of them that won't buy WoFF because it is turn based. 

I may actually be more stoked for this than FFXV.

This is making me nerd out all nostalgia-like.

Except there's a "wait mode" in FFXV now. So it can practically be played like a turn based game.

I can't imagine FF fans turning down either game, honestly, but I'm also pretty old school.

It definetly isn't, from what they showed of it it seens to actualy make playing the game anoying as hell, as you are playig a game designed to be played in real time with a shoehorned time freeze feature to try and emulate turn based gameplay. Im definelty not turning that stuff on.

I guess I'm just confused. I grew with arcade games and Atari games, for god's sake. I've seen genres come and go...and then return, due to nostalgia. I've played all kinds of games, for a multitude of reasons. 

So to me, it's bizarre that people are SO turned off by FFXV, just because it doesn't play like the first 9 games. I feel like the people complaining about the battle system must not be the die hard fans...or they're stuck in the past.

Same. Combat is either good, bad or average, whether it's as fast as a fox or slow as a snail
