Forums - Gaming Discussion - Red Dead 3 was cut due to Florida (Sony Presser)

According to sources, RDR presentation was cut due to the content of the trailer created for the event and the proximity (time wise) to the Florida shootings.

Many may have noticed that Bends game had the gameplay moved to the end and that most of the early part of the conference had little to no shooting. The end may have seemed to be missing a little something in contrast to the bombastic start and middle of the conference.

The RDR reveal was to cap off the show.... R* wanted Sony to delay the show for them to cut another trailer but could not be done.

well if true thats sad to hear.

That would make a lot of sense, considering Days Gone looks like a B-list game, not a show closer. It looks fun, but it seems to me like it's just a serious alternative to Dead Rising and a hardware power showcase.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Yeah, I kinda felt the same. I mean, it was a really cool looking game, but it seemed very out of as the show closer. Imagine if they would have close with RDR3 reveal. On another note, Days gone looks like it COULD be really good. Still not convinced though.

Do you have a source on this? If this is true, we're going to be seeing an RDR3 reveal this week, I would think.

I'll try and get a solid source tomorrow, most id from GAF right now.... I need to find who exactly it came from. I wall run it by Shinobi and drogonpunch when I wake up.

The reason I ask is that I google it and couldn't find anything on it at all. The only thing that makes this believable to me is that the Days gone was a really weird point to end the show on. Sure it looks good, but a new ip from a studio no one's heard of seems really out of place to end a show on. Especially considering that they had a trailer for it near the beginning of the show.
On the other side of that coin, it seems weird that that's the game they would cut out of all the games they showcased due to the Orlando shooting. Unless something REALLY screwed up happens in the reveal trailer.

Well Bend is actually pretty well known as far as studios go.... they did the Syphon Filter games and UC: Golden Abyss

But to your point, apparently they are saying there was a bit where guys go into a saloon and shoot the place up....full of npc's, not enemies. I don't know if it was fact or speculation phrased badly. Will have to see.

If the latter is remotely true, I'd 100% believe it. I mean, the opening comments on the shooting were very real, genuine emotions. It wasn't scripted (though obviously the guy rehearsed himself going by his repetition of phrases and such), and you could tell it was more than a sign of support - he was genuinely upset even days later. Which, I know, we all should be and I still am, but to see genuine emotions come from a public figure of any sort is something to note.

Anyway, my point is I could see it getting pulled because the PS marketing team felt the poor taste and backlash would be huge, but more so because THEY would be offended by showing it, a key difference from just not wanting bad press.

I guess no one's heard of is a bad way to put it, but they aren't even close to studios like rockstar or naughty dog as far as fame goes.
