Gaming streaming devices, yay or nay?

Yay! 13 18.31%

Nay... 58 81.69%

Total:71

I would rather have a system where you download games than that...

I don't see the appeal. Unless is streaming like Vita-PS4 streaming (playing your PS4 games on the Vita), streaming just seems slower, more expensive and an unnecessary complication. Even digital-only allows you to have the game in your memory, not having even that just seems like I'm paying for nothing.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

nay!

Net down = no playing at all, not even single player games (worse service).

Input lag much much higher (worse service).

Data caps / slow speeds = some cant enjoy it.

compressed image quality + compressed audio (worse quality)

Higher subscriptions costs, because server demands sky rocket (worse service)

All digital service for streaming (worse service)

Physical owned hardware, for Consoles is much much better.

Yeah I'd definitely use one, psnow is so so close to nailing it, just need to make a little more progress.

Though I'm renting games and saving an absolute fortune ATM and I doubt cloud gaming would be cheap.

Cloud gaming is definitely where the industry is heading over the next decade anyway so you nay-sayers either get onboard on miss out!

I don't trust digital only systems either, because if the system breaks you have to download the game again, but there's always a chance that they took it off the online store.

I agree, but even in those, you technically have the game, and you should be able to play it even offline. If the servers fail, streaming-based gaming is as good as dead.

Nay for me. a) Canadian internet sucks b) I don't like the idea of my games being on their servers c) Latency sucks d) Need a pretty great wifi adapter and a router to get the best experience e) If their severs go down... RIP

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

I tried PS NOW but my 20mbs are not good enough so nay for now.

My internet is terrible, so not just yet. Not that I'm against the idea, but it's going to be a long time before it's even viable for me.

Don't ruin the moment

Currently Playing: Rocket League (PC/PS4), Dead Cells (PC)

LordyPlays on YouTube

So you're saying that services that run over the internet may not be as reliable as local run services? Get out of here!

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Does the Yay mean you'd use a cloud gaming service or does it mean you want gaming to become streaming based.

Because I voted yay due to the former, if nx for example was a cloud gaming service I wouldn't discount it because of that, however on paper physical is better in all aspects for consumers other than hardware cost.

So unless a cloud gaming business model offered some significant advantages to make up for the disadvantages fkr consumers I don't want gaming to become cloud based, but I'd still use it.

Either way game streaming will only become more and more prevalent as the technology advances, for the platform holders it's quite appealing.
