I'm actually really shocked at how bad the track looks in GT6, considering how plain it is. Needless to say, the difference is huge. I'd like to see a comparison on a track that looked better in GT6, but guess this'll do for now.

That's not a fair comparison, you can only compare it to rose tinted memories of GT6. The one on the right is clearly GT4 footage.

GTS has a much more realistic look

I guess that's atmospheric modelling and physically based rendering in action along with more details and higher visibility of grasses/shrubberies (popping in a bit in GT6)

After looking around, I found another visual comparison.

GT 6:

And GT Sport:

 

Goodness.  It's pretty amazing how much better GT6 looks.  I'm in shock.

Hehehe good point! 

The video shows though that GT:Sport looks way better than GT6 even though it is at pre-alpha stage. It really is gonna be a great game as long as there is enough single player content.

Damage, day, night and weather are also confirmed.

I recall seeing a screenshot of one of the cars- for a second I thought it was a picture of an actual car.

 

This game looks gorgeous. It's only 50 percent finished, meaning polishing isn't even done yet. I can't wait to see how this will do

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

That was for the people who are going to point out the lack of some random detail and act as though the game were in a finished state.

Beyond that, car modeling in GTS is way better, draw distance is way better, and environmental detail is way better.  Hard to judge much besides that in a youtube video.

After seeing this video and hearing what they intend to do I have total faith in the team to deliver a great GT. 

However there are just two things I am questioning... the single player content / career mode and the music. Remembering back to the GT2 and 3 days the soundtracks were incredible, I just want something reminiscent of that. 

That would be 10/10 for me.
