Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is it pretty much assured Twilight Princess will always be second place to Ocarina Of Time in terms of total sales now?

I'm not entirely sure how Twilight Princess HD is doing now, mainly because after its first week (which even then it didn't rank #1) it dropped off charts entirely. I think it's fairly safe to say though that it will not get the 2 million more sales it needs to surpass Ocarina Of Time. Again I will hand it to Nintendo for packing an Amiibo in it and letting everyone know it will unlock something in Zelda U, otherwise I think the game would have flopped entirely. I'm glad it's out now though, so people can stop asking for a remake. 

This is especially an assured thing if the NX releases this year, but even if it doesn't until 2017 I'm pretty sure there is no hope that it will sell 2 million more copies.

What do you guys think? Is there any sales data I'm not seeing that might prove otherwise?

Well, it's difficult to outsell the flagship game in your franchise, specially when it's considered one of the best games of all time. TP won't outsell OoT anytime soon, unless it's avalible in significantly more consoles than OoT.

Overall though, if we include every game, OOT will have sold the most. OOT N64 also outsold TP on either system individually.

You mean the HD remake will never out sell the Ocarina of time 3DS remake, that is true but the original release of Twilight princess on gc/wii has outsold The original Ocarina of time on N64.

Virtual console sales will likely be another factor tipping the balance in OoT's favor. TP would need a lot of help to surpass OoT.

Exactly, I am giving TP a chance though by only counting physical copies sold.
