Don't get me started on David Cage, he's the Uwe Boll of the gaming industry in my book.

well that depends on opinions, there are people who enjoy his games and there are people who doesn't enjoy them, but the thing is that he is very passionate with his work and stories even if its results might not appeal to some people, and everyone can clearly see that he is, which doesn't fit with your "soulless/cynical" criticism.

any game on the interactive drama genre can't be classified as "soulless", since its a new genre that relies on its story and obviously doesn't sell as much as the anual popular AAA games like the division, call of duty, etc so since they know that they can't expect mind-blowing sales with them they actually put a lot of effort and creativity at making them.

A game can be soulless without being annualized series. In the case of Cage's games, it's their desperate attempts to ape Hollywood that qualify them as such in my opinion.

They are embarrassment to the videogame industry. It's like your little brother trying to act funny around your friends to gain acceptance.

Videogames at core, are an interactive medium; as soon as you tone that down to convey your work with characteristics from different medium, you'll loose most gamers.

Of recent new IPs it's Splatoon. It was well overdue that Nintendo allowed new talent to shine and would you believe it there are people at the company not named Miyamoto who are capable of developing new IP.

It took 17 posts for someone to mention Splatoon?

VGChartz, I am disappointed.

Well the OP says most excited for, not favorite

So Splatoon is already out, therefore one can not be excited for it

You can be excited for a sequel or new content. And the OP's only games mentioned are all games already released (except NiOh, of course).

Note I said "mention", and not "choose". Splatoon is one of the most notable new IPs at this time, you'd think someone would mention it earlier than that, in a conversation about exciting new IPs.

Just to make it was mentioned by the one Nintendo fan who has more issues with Nintendo than curl does

Well I did not mean to list those first three as exciting, only successful.

But someone can still be excited for a game that has already released. So It is all acceptable to me. For example if I wait to buy the game when it becomes $20, I certainly will still be excited about the game.
