Capcom Talking About Reviving Onimusha

Hey, this just might make your day.

We haven't seen the once-esteemed Onimusha franchise in a while, and some believe it might be dead.

But thankfully, Capcom boss Yoshinori Ono doesn't entertain such grim notions. In fact, he just told The Daily Star that Capcom is well aware of the fan outcry for another installment, and there have been some internal discussions concerning such a project:

"Capcom as a company know we have many brands, IPs and series that are beloved by players around the world, and we always have fans asking when is this or that coming back. I've spoken internally with people who made Onimusha with me originally and talked about maybe how interesting it would be to revisit that series."

Ono added that a new Onimusha game hasn't started development and frankly, he can't think about it until Street Fighter V is out the door. Speaking of which, you should check out the full-length CG trailer if you haven't already. As for another Onimusha, I'm so down for that. Loved those games!

Hopefully they revisit Onimusha, it was so good. I think they could adapt it quite easily to these days standards, and with Ono leading the project I'm sure it would turn out to be good.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I've never been too fond of hack n' slash, but for some reason, I love Onimusha. I had a blast playing the games.

For me it's an old school charm.  But I'm sure that will go away with a newer version.

Bring back Jean Reno and I'm sold.

You know of all the three main games, that is the only one I haven't played?

Dawn of Dreams was always my favorite.

Better character design, and it was two-player.

Firstly, I'm a huge Onimusha fan.
Secondly, I love Capcom games. (one of my fav devs)
Thirdly, .....Capcom is big p*ssy.....

....There's a high chance that the only reason Onimusha is now highly talked is likely due to the positive feedback that Ni-Oh has been getting. They let someone else test out the water before they jump back in.

They've stated that Onimusha was not even considered last gen because they felt the West aren't as into Japanese culture/style.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ark Survival Evolved succeeds on console that Capcom will start to talk about a new Dino Crisis.

But ultimately, yes im very excited for a new Onimusha. It just took these p*ssy long enough.

Well, that's a shame. It's the best one, in my opinion. The interwined paths of both main characters was an interesting take on the formula.
