Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Twilight Princess HD is the most dissapointing Zelda remaster

Do you like the current TPHD?

Yes, because... 88 51.76%

No, because... 82 48.24%

Total:170

At least I could have imagined.

As someone who was excited to see what they can achive, this is clearly a dissapointment.

Sad Link seeing the bad remaster that his great game is getting. Expected a lot better.

First off, the graphical changes are so minimal that we needed comparisions to look at them. The first time Aonuma showed us The Wind Waker HD, the changes were so notorious that we were in awe. Some liked the changes, others, not so much, but nobody can't deny that it looked a lot different. In fact, it's one of the best looking games on the current console Wii U, 10 years after release.

On the other hand, Twilight Princess HD needs from comparisions and explanations to "see" the graphical overhaul...

Twilight Princess "HD"

Now moving on. We can't just be so fond on just graphics, right? Well, let's see if it at least add new content. Well, we are in "luck" because they added a new minor dungeon: the Twilight Cave or Trial of the Beast (most likely a wolf LInk Cave of Ordeals). And on top of that, the easy game that it is Twilight Princess can have a better difficulty: a hero mode with 4x damage! Finally. (There's a hero mode in the game that doubles the damage, apparently no need amiibo to unlock).

For the record, in Skyward Sword only bats do half a heart damage, everything else does form 1 to 2 complete damage hearts in normal mode. In hero mode does double the damage and no hearts to found, in a more difficult game.

The only incovinient: those 2 good additions are in the disc or download game we payed, but need to pay $26 more to unlock it. Those small figurines called amiibo are keys to unlock the 2 neat additions.

A Famitsu scan from this week, basically shows the final game.

And going forward, one of them will transfer data from this game, to the new one. What can we expect to unlock? From only ruppees, to dungeons. Twilight Princess HD is just the beggining...

EDIT:

Other Zelda remasters this gen:

Ocarina of Time 1998 (N64) vs Ocarina of Time 3D 2011 (N3DS)

Additions:

* Clearly graphical overhaul

* Changed interface (touch screen for inventory and map, more buttons to put items)

* Master Quest added in the version (original MQ was released on the NGC in 2002)

* Master Quest mirrored and with double the damage (Iron Knuckles can do 8 heart damage)

The Wind Waker 2003 (NGC) vs The Wind Waker HD 2013 (Wii U)

Additions:

* Graphical overhaul (lighting, textures, effects)

* Hero mode (this game is still a joke)

* Minor twists (Triforce quest and a new Sail)

Majora's Mask 2000 (N64) vs Majora's Mask 3D 2015 (N3DS)

Additions:

* Graphical overhaul

* New interface

* Boss battles changes

* Fishing Pond minigame

* Complete an incomplete sidequest (Gorma's Brothers with the Circus Leader's Mask)

* Minor changes (Owl statues, bank localization, Bomber's Notebook)

How can you know the quality of a game before you've even played it?

It may be disappointing but its the easiest and cheapest way to get my hands on a non motion controlled Twilight Princess so I'll take it.

Where did I mentioned it is a bad game? Or talked about quality?

Isn't the NGC version cheaper?

Yeah, I agree. They should save it for their next console and completely overhaul it, make it look like that 2011 tech demo. There's no risk about is... it's Twilight Princess, it will sell well regardless.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

I have the same feeling as you I must admit. TP is one of my fav Zelda game and from what I've seen it's a big let down form the graphical upgrade. I was really hoping for more.

Absolutely what I tought, the Wii U tech demo of Zelda type of graphic would have fit perfectly with TP.

Game looks like ass even on scans. It should be minor e-shop 10$ title as an apology for Zelda U delay. But not in Nintendo universe.

Yeah, compared to the other Zelda remasters, TPHD doesn't really bring too much to the table.

Still not a fan of the Wolf Link amiibo at all. -_-

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I agree that it's a disappointment. I wish they would have done more with the visuals (and audio?). This seems like a quick and cheap way to pad out the Wii U release schedule and make a few bucks.
