Forums - PC Discussion - PC shipments showed record decline in Q4 2015

It's just presenting interesting data about the pc market.  It should be in the sales thread now that you mention it so go ask a mod if you really care.  I didn't really give it much thought when choosing the forum.  Just seen pc and was like yeah pc news.

I don't get why people are so sensitive and go out of their way to be outraged.  Chill dude

Well for one I;m not outraged, I just find it a tad illogical to post casual pre-built sales data within a gaming website and not being in the sales sub forum. For another you aren't one for PC gaming anyway, not saying you cannot post such news but I find it really odd that you'd focus on this, especially since the last time you and basil had words you started putting more and more focus on mobiles/tablets in relation to final fantasy and with your OP you put more focus on that despite the common knowledge that more of the casual folks (even my folks are prime examples, I know because I've helped them) have been going with tablets and smartphones for the past 5 years and we already know the mobile market has been booming for some time.

It would have made a bit more sense to focus on gaming sales data in general or perhaps even going for Nvidia/AMD's sales of individual hardware components, that's something PCGamer had users making a note of that the two have seen growth in their respective sectors as well as custom pre-built store Origin having double digit growth, the latter was mentioned by the author of the article I linked. It would have paid to add that in as well imo.

And for the last time I'm not mad, people need to realize that others wording doesn't always translate into pure raw emotion, I cannot imagine what it must be like talking to a Scotsman over the net, someone like Billy Connolly  and you'd think he's mad all the time just because of the tone of his voice or the way he talks. If you want to know when I;m mad or blowing my top I'll let you know in future =P.

Seriously why are you taking this personally? You've just brought up an irrelevant debate I had with someone else. That's nothing to do with this thread.

They you claim I'm not into pc gaming (which I am) like that has anything to do with anything. As you said it doesn't mean I can't post about PC even if it's true (which it's not) so why even bring it up.

It should be in sales sub forum so if it really bothers you that much message a mod and ask for it to be transferred.

So do you want to discuss the declining pc sales or not?

No one suggested that PC gaming is in trouble. Not the OP, not the title, not a single post in this thread talks about PC gaming being doomed. That's what I meant to say my first reply to you.

Then what connection are we supposed to establish here?. We know pre-builts are mostly for the casual folk, are we going to post about cherry switch sales or something next?.

Wat. Smh. Dude. It's just interesting news to share and discuss.

Exactly!  Making a mountain out of a mole hill.  At least everyone else just commented on the article and not the sub forum it was posted in

I think the people commenting about Laptops being a hassle and such are on the money here. I don't plan on replacing with another laptop but getting an Ipad instead when it does die.

With the desktop unit for me personally after Windows 8 and Vista I said I'll never again use a windows OS for my desktop work once I replace my W7 unit and I'm not the only one hence the rise in OSX sales. I will however buy a gaming PC as I don't want an Xbone or PS4 and love the Japanese and Indie games showing up on Steam (and the sales). Will get it to boot at launch into big picture on Windows 7 and use a controller.

Many hours later and I want to ask why you chose to reply after what has been said and done.

It's a now known thing at this point in the decline and I did contribute like it or not with my link to PCGamers article while talking about it, don't tell me how I can/cannot talk about a topic before you try to knock the link I posted and talking about it (because you will).

Yeah well said. I'm not replacing my laptop anyway.  My phone is enough for my work and the funny thing is phones will only get better.

So me personally I don't need a tablet but they are good.

Personally I can't live (and for sure not work) without a laptop. Obviously not without a phone either. Thus I can't be less interested in tablets, they would be just redundant. Regarding desktops.. I've got my first and last one in 1990, used it few years, trashed it and never looked back.

Is it ok to say that I largely don't understand what you are getting at? Yes, I read the article in the link you posted, thanks :)

I didn't tell how to or how not to talk. All I did was making sure the discussion stays on topic, because no one suggested PC gaming is doomed, why get on the defensive for no reason? and it wasn't directed at just you..

PCs are simply becoming more of a specialty device.

Workstations and entertainment/gaming PCs make up more of the desktop market than they ever have.

Apple may be the only anomaly here because the iMac is oddly positioned in the market. It's not a dedicated graphics machine (far from ideal for gaming) nor is it a dedicated workstation (the Mac Pro comprises a tiny portion of Apple's PC sales), but it serves well as a general purpose device in a shrinking market.
