Seems like another great sign that Nintendo is accepting Smash as a competitive fighting game. First was their own Smash 4 tournament before E3 2014, and now the partnership with Genesis 3.

Hopefully Nintendo will continue to embrace it. Seems like Smash may have a bright future ahead of it for the competitive crowd. 

The countdown begins.

*Edit* BTW, Congrats Smash Bros for winning the Peoples Choice Award in the Favorite Video Game catagory.

I love it when Nintendo sponsors these big tournies, including EVO, Apex, and The Big House.

To think that Nintendo tried to get rid of Melee from EVO years ago.

Yeah, it was about time that they just accepted one of their games has hit it big with people who do more than play their games for fun. There's nothing wrong with it.

I mean that's cool and all, but I doubt this "sponsor" actually does anything other than Splatoon ads, a retweet, and not getting shut down. This was the case in TBH5, Apex, and Evo, and I doubt this will change for this event.

Call me ungrateful, but I'd much rather want Nintendo out of this and have PM back; it is the main reason why PM cannot grow due to Nintendo's interference and ludicrous policies.

Never expected Smash Bros of all games to win the People's Choice awards, I was expecting something a lot more mainstream.

It still won tho, so congrats!

Maybe, but better than the alternative (Nintendo shutting it down). All steps in the right direction.
