I was curious as to what people think is the best 2D platformer of this generation. For me personally it's Super Mario Maker. It's my most played Wii U game and I simply love to build creative levels for other people to enjoy. I also like to play other people's levels. It's a very simple tool editor and that's why it's far superior to me than something like LittleBigPlanet. Sometimes simple is better than complex, and there's no better example to this than Super Mario Maker. Since the latest free update it has also become very easy to find good user created levels by other people. The other free updates like world records (time), checkpoints and new assets like the fire clowncopter and the bumper are also very appreciated. The many amiibo costumes are also fun to mess around with. And the special 30th anniversary Mario amiibo is my favorite one. :) I hope to see the game expanded with even more free content in the future. The game also has a great social aspect and miiverse integration. My second favorite platformer would be Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. It's hard, action packed and has a beautiful artstyle.
