So are you guys saying that sony now produce the Ps4 in Brazil for the Brazilians but it still costs double the x1?

No.

The PS4 was almost double the XBO price at launch, until before Sony finally started to build it here, while MS has been doing it all along.

Now both are pretty close on price, you can find one cheaper than the other in different places, but I believe the official price tag is still a little lower to the XBO than the PS4.

Than you have the grey market, that is still considerably cheaper to get any of them, specially the PS4, that goes from a little over the XBO official to usually a little lower than it in the grey market, both are close stuff both ways, though.

As a note:

Even on the grey market the consoles are still higher in price than the biggest chunck of the population can afford to pay, though, so you can imagine the official prices don't really attrack that much atention, mostly just to people wanting to make the safest purchase.

Gaming on current gen here is still really expensive, the drop on our currency value due to the internal crisis may mask it at some extent nowdays, but if you go back to when the consoles launch the XBO launch price was over USD $1000 (PS4 almost 2000). Now the comparative price dropped a lot due to the drop of the value of our currency as I just mentioned, but it's still as hard as that to get one here, actually even worse, as people are now in need to save more and spend less, and paying USD 1000 was already way harder here than in US, as our per capita income is WAY lower than in the US.

I was checking PSN yesterday after a long time without logging in there and I see now games are priced at BRL 280 there at launch, it was around BRL 150 last gen to BRL 200 tops and it was expensive as fuck to get it by that price before, then it raised to BRL 250 and now BRL 280 apparently, so you can imagine sales here are not very high no matter how you look at them.

I really want to see "Fabricado no Brasil" in a PS4. My XONE has it, but I want to see it in a PS4...

Wait, so Fallout 4 sold ''only'' 2.54m? Because that would mean VGC is overtracking it at over 1m. Damn.

Good job PS4, just bought mine in November after some great BF deals!

Nope, more like 20% difference

Brazil and Mexico I believe.

Bear in mind this is counting official sales in the country and not imports.

Brazil changed to official PS4 land once they started manufactoring systems in Brazil. This reduced costs (tech tax) significantly which were the reasons why PS4 was basically only sold through unofficial channels. I think the Gre market is still better though.

Do we have numbers for that? Also, Mexico is North America as well.

I know XONE consoles are made in Brazil, which means no obnoxious import quotas, but so far, the only one I have for the PS4 is this one...

If so, Sony should outsource their China production to Brazil... same price and better builds that match the JP ones...

Microsoft have been manufacturing Xbox One's in Brazil since launch whilst Sony have not.

Sony recently started producing consoles in Brazil and I believe they started shipping to stores around the end of October this year. Perhaps someone in Brazil can confirm that but I'm fairly confident it was around that time.

The price has recently come down in Brazil over the last two months. However the Xbox One can still be found for slightly cheaper through official retailers.

The grey market is still probably a better route but the pricing situation is much better than it was at launch and will continue improving.

It launched around September October as you said.

All the times I gone to the grey market stores they only sold PS4, because the X1 wouldn't allow them good Margin because the difference between official channel with formal warranty was too small from their cost to bring X1 here so they basically only sold X1 games but no HW.

How does that have any bearing on what I posted?

I think it's because the XONE is manufactured ONLY in Brazil, whereas the PS4 has three manufacturers (Sony itself in Japan, Foxconn in China and Anatel in Brazil) but I really think they should end their PRC production and use Brazil to produce the bulk of their consoles, it's as cheap and the quality is higher.

I though console gaming was dying.

Nonsense. That'd be portable gaming...

ANATEL isn't a factory, they are the certifying body like NCC

Ouch that's awful.

I don't think even the biggest Sonyfag would have predicted HALO falling so much, at least not in the US.

PS4 in every country number 1 now. in all countrys in the world. XD

Well.... not in South America.

Which countries specifically? I live there and hardly know people with an xbox one

Mexico basically, that would be the only place that leans XBOX, and even then from my experience there it leans to PlayStation, but since it's a big country with a big population there's probably some regions that lean heavily XBOX and give MS the advantage there.

You're right. It's actually the Manaus Industrial Park...

Wait... so battlefront is over 100% overtracked on vgchartz? Damn... :/ Still good numbers though but not even close of the roughly 5mil vgchartz was predicting.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M
