Why isn't Microsoft countering Sony's price drop?

Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Why isn't Microsoft countering Sony's price drop?

A couple days ago Sony announced another temporary $299 price drop on the Star Wars bundles for Dec 6-19 in the US. Usually Microsoft tries to counter with a price drop or promotion, but there hasn't been a word from Microsoft. Are they still just trying to go for profit? What gives?

they finally gave up. Like Nintendo did with wii u. Hell, Ps4 + starwars is as expensive as Wii U + Mario kart 8. Thats ridiclous. Both plattforms wont keep up in terms of sales this gen. They will just try to sell some copies at a high profit marge and then try to skip to 9th gen asap.

The same reason Wii U isn't dropping by price. It's not worth it. Better make profit.

They've already played the price drop game a few times. Unbundling the Kinect also cost some money.
Phill Spencer said that they are going to focus on profits, and it looks like they're doing that, since the holiday deals for XB1 aren't as crazy as last year. That said, $50 down on a bundle isn't as crazy as what they had last year, so maybe they'll do that.

Why even try when you know it's futile ?

They should drop at least 1 Bundle down in the next week.

Maybe it hurts too much at that price point.

The PS4 is slightly cheaper to make so... could be the differnce.

I think they may have been a little surprised by the drop and were hoping to sell higher this year than last, after doing a massive fire sale. They are probably going to stay the same price and just ride it through.

Would expect them to do deals again maybe in January.
