Forums - Sony Discussion - Question for someone who has never played FF7

What should I do?

Play the original, then the remake 71 61.21%

Wait for the remake 45 38.79%

Total:116

Depends on two things:

1. You don't mind the blocky graphics outside of combat.
2. You're not one of "those people" who think that only because Action RPGs exist that this somehow means all turn-based RPGs are suddenly shit.

If you fulfill these criterias, you should have a really great time with it.

Play the original. Not on PS4 though, I think that's coming from the PC version.

Play the original PS1 version. The best you can play it is with the ePSXe emulator, which has various texture filters to give you a better looking image.

Despite some parts of it having aged badly, it's still one of the greatest games ever made and should definitely be experienced. The remake will likely change a lot and will be a different experience.

The PC version is pretty much identical to the original. It had super crappy music at first but that has been corrected.

I can't believe people actually care about the original at this point

Your question is worded strangely. I thought you were looking to ask a question of someone whi has never played FF7. To answer your question, you should absolutely play the original. It was one of my gratest gaming experiences to date(been gaming since NES). I will warn you tho thr GFX have not aged well, if you can get past that, you will be among the many that have played what is IMO the greatest RPG ever!!

I recommend waiting to see if the battle system changes. If it does, then play the original without hesitation.Otherwise, wait for the remake(though it will take alot of time to arrive, so I dont know if you want to wait that long)

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Without it (and it's success) there wouldn't be a remake. :P

Hmm, pie.

SPOILER: the Titanic sinks.

Being 100% honest the game didnt age too well, the gameplay it has isnt seen on games nowadays anymore and the graphics are cringeworthy compared to the newer stuf. However it still excells in a lot of areas and that could be enought to get you realy hooked, if the gameplay works for you than Im sure youll love it, but if you cant get into the way older RPGs used to play youre not gona like it at all I believe.

i played long time ago on my ps1,

my opinion: my favorites is ff 10, ff 8, ff 4 and my 4 favorite is ff 7
