Forums - Gaming Discussion - Future Video Game Cartoons?

I'd think comical ones would work better, which seems to rule out most of the AAA stuff you see on the PS4 and Xbox1. Really, it seems like nintendo would be the best bet, but there's no franchise I can think of that would work well as a cartoon... Cartoons, and I say this as a person who loved what we had in the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's, are of a quality today that don't leave as much room for half assed product placement.

Sonic seems to be getting by, though... I suppose Zelda, if done right, could work. Splatoon would have to be rather different from the game given paintball matches wouldn't really fill a series.

Maybe that Yo-Kai watch or w.e it is could be akin to pokemon? Is that already a thing?

Umm I know Ubisoft is trying to push Assassins Creed into the mainstream through movies and merchandise, but that doesn't seem like a kids cartoon at all given the murder, religion/historical figure bashing etc.

Really, with blizzards sense of humor I think they could make a warcraft cartoon work, but that'd never happen.

Video games should probably just remain video games... Some seem to work like Sonic, but most don't :p

Does Ni No Kuni count? Because I'd love it if they just made the anime movie of that for those that don't want to play it.

Castlevania:

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Splatoon. Take it's concept, fill it of puns, make it 18+ and add a sprinke of South Park, it would be gorgeous

A ten minute short CGI animation of Mario finishing a level. Has slapstick, power ups and doesn't need voice acting beyond what the games already have.

A new Captain N: The Game Master. With all the IP Nintendo has now, no need for third party characters in the standard rooster (could still show up depending on the IP of the Villain of the week or other plot-related reasons, of course, they're just not regulars anymore). Just need to get much more mature with intelligent plot and dialogues and give them characters justice (not how Simon Belmont, Megaman or Pit got portrayed in the original) and it could work out very well.

Apart from that, maybe more Pikmin shorts? I really loved the 3 short stories Miamoto made with them, there are defintly possibilities to make more of them

That's already a thing (no fansubs or no decent ones IIRC) (Edit : there are dubs broadcasted in multiple english speaking countries.)

OT :Is this post exclusive to cartoons ? Anime always had 20 minutes toy commercial series and some of them were video games commercials (Pokemon is the most well known, but even Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest had their own animes)

Some trans-media project looked pretty cool too. I remember a few visual novels launching at the same time as their animes, mangas and novels spin offs (Okami Kakushi and Guilty Crown among others).

Phantom Brave would have made a great anime, too bad Disgaea was pretty bad.

I also want a new Digimon series or movie directed by Mamoru Hosoda.

I want that. Great idea, bravo!

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

No, anime counts too. It's more of a style of cartoon than it's own thing.

I'd like to see a Star Fox cartoon, but because there isn't enough in the way of story to go on, it wouldn't happen without being crappy.

It really depend on how much control Nintendo would have on the writing. It could give the writer some nice creative freedom that would allow him to make something unexpectedly good (who am i kidding i saw that mario movie).

Needs more open world cartoon games
