Forums - Sales Discussion - Playstation 3: An Under Rated System

Alright i think sony has paid enough for their arrogance now and most ppl will start to see the light. I think the media has seen how much damge it has coused the system and are now trying to make up for it. I mean sites liek gamespot, and ign are more forgiving and are hyping the ps3 much more now as do publications like EGM which this month had like a 12 page kiss ass to ps3 games. I never doubted what the ps3 could do and i am amzed after gamers day ( I mean Socom Confrontations looks spectacular) The media and sony itslef were part of the ps3 problems from the get go. Now both parties are looking to rectify their mistakes. But the good news they have a nice logn decade to do it.

It is interesting that all this negativity started when the price was announced, people were all positive about the PS3 before that happened. Then a big group of ppl realized 'wow that's too much for a console, I won't buy that' and they started bashing Sony.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

"The system itself is one of the finest Blu-Ray players in existence. It offers amongst the clearest visuals ever seen in home television screens" So, have you reviewed many Blu-ray-players to-date ?

Nothing's cheaper than something free.

F1 vs FOTA, when too much power is in couple peoples hands.

It wasn't just the price though ... 2006 seemed to be the year where Sony was doing everything in their power to turn as many people against them as possible. The PS3 price, rootkit, exploding batteries, PSP Graffitti, and Racist PSP Comercials were (generally speaking) bad enough but their reaction to these things was terrible; finally they followed all this up with arogant statement after arogant statement.

What you need to realize is that people take great joy in watching (or delivering) the "Rewards" of hubris.

Sony changed video games for the better, so I don't know why they catch so much flack. I don't think the PS1 or PS2 generation would have been as good if Nintendo or Microsoft would have led it by the reins. Everyone, particularly third party developers and gamers looking for variety, benefited. Some of you may not want to admit it, but the Sony gaming division is open to supporting more innovative ideas than Microsoft or Nintendo (content wise compared to Nintendo since they have changed the actual gameplay methods with the Wii mote). Last generation, Microsoft did FPS's right on the XBox and a few other things, GameCube really didn't shine anywhere except for Smash Brothers and Pikmin, and the PS2 did just about everything except FPS's right. In my opinion, Sony is the best thing that ever happened to gaming.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

If you insult a console, someone will criticise you. If you compliment a system, someone will criticise you. I declare it impossible to create a thread that pleases everyone in the world.

Just say you are a hot chick and you will please every one, lol.

Then the ugly chicks will get jelous, and post something nasty.

I have been reviewing some of my previous threads, and it appeared that I was bashing the Playstation 3 in favor for the Nintendo Wii, and Microsoft Xbox 360. That is unfair to Sony Playstation 3, because it is a really good system, despite a few flaws.

I've bashed the Sony Playstation 3 enough. It is about time I say some good things about it.

I've been reading more about the system, and the truth is, it is a very under rated system.

The Playstation 3 is only $200 more expensive than the Xbox 360. However, because Sony is losing more money, per console, than Xbox 360 is on their consoles, you are getting a better deal when you purchase the Playstation 3... *yada, yada, yada*

Oh, so what you're trying to say is, you better go on record for saying good things about the PS3 seeing as it's looking like, after the Sony gamers day event, that Sony's PS3 is about to kick some major ass. Ah, I see, well..OK. You really haven't said anything that hasn't been drummed repeatedly out since 2005 by Sony's fanbase to the likes of people like you that dogged the PS3 like crazy... and you're only reading up on it now? lol, wow.

Actually, it all depends on how you view the system. You can view it in a good way, for what it is, and you can view it in a bad way, when compared to its competitors. If its competitors never existed, everyone would be thinking that the Playstation 3 is the best thing in the world.

The Playstation 3 wont kick some major ass. I wont even kick ass in general. I personally think it is going to die out, because people now days are too cheap to spend the money to buy it, and don't know what it's fully capable of doing.

I got most of my facts before. I just decided to make one thread that praised the Playstation 3, since there are already so many other threads (including some of mine) that were bashing it.

All of my facts came from major websites on the Internet. All of them. No, I haven't reviewed them all, but other people have. I didn't know that so many people didn't know the facts that I posted in my first post. I didn't think about adding links in my first post, to prove the facts are real, because I assumed everyone would know they are real. Well, I'll be sure to add some links in my next thread.

Anyways, most of my facts came from www.wikipedia.org, www.gamespot.com, and other big websites.

Go to www.wikipedia.org, type "Playstation 3," and look at the reception it got. That is where I found the information on the unit having a superior Blu-Ray player than other stand alone Blu-Ray players.

And people are so greedy these days. Sony is losing $400 per console, and people still think it's too expensive. Okay, if you don't have the money, then don't buy it. But bashing its price is just wrong, because it should be $1,050, so that Sony can make at least $50 on the console. If that were the case, then it could lower the cost on the games, since that is where Sony is trying to make its money back.

So be happy the console isn't $1,050. For what you are getting, you are getting a very good deal.

I don't really follow your logic here ... Sony hasn't really done anything that wouldn't have happened on its own accord.

Had Sony never released the Playstation there would have (likely) been a massive third party shift towards the Saturn and the Saturn would have had Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil released on it which would have lead to its dominance.

There is not one thing you can point to and say "Sony brought this to gaming and it wouldn't have come without them"

I'm impressed with the amount of information other people know about all of these consoles.
