I, personally, liked Jeanne D'Arc a lot more than FFT: War of the Lions. The game is great...ness!. Kudos to Level 5. I liked FFT: Advance but I don't own a DS so I can't tell how good/bad FFT: A2 is.

Crisis Core: FFVII is not a SRPG! is more like an Action/RPG.

The trick to enjoying a SRPG is to enjoy the chess like gameplay. If you can enjoy sitting there and plotting the demise of each and everyone of your enemies. If you can't enjoy planning the best way to clear the battlefield and analyzing the compartive strengths and weaknesses of your side and the opponents side then you probably can't enjoy the genre.
