Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo fans........I have something I'd like to say to you about the Wii U

I wrote my old friend on youtube, and I feel it can also be directed toward you folks too.  I'm just curious if you agree with my sentiment:   I'll paste what I wrote.

LeveledHeadGamer, How are you doing.....it's been a long time.

I just finished watching you 5 reasons Nintendo's Wii U failed. While I agree with most of your points, I feel you missed 1 crucial point....... I feel YOU and Nintendo fans like yourself (and others like Shokio) are also a critical reason Wii U failed. Why? Because I remember debating with you, and I, and others told you most of those things......that the Wii U's online was terrible and the fact that the Wii U didn't have a real harddrive to support the store was a sure sign that it would remain terrible. RXL told you the Wii U was for kids. We also told you that developers didn't care for the Wii U. But with respect, you shirked them all off and pretended that the Wii U was going to be fine. What you should have done was use your channel and influence to try and rally others (again like Shokio) to contact NIntendo to attempt to tell Nintendo the truth. Again, with respect, because I don't want you to feel disrespected........but LeveledHeadGamer, you lied......you lied to yourself, to others, and you lied to Nintendo themselves. And now, everything I and others were trying to tell you has now come to pass, and I can't help but feel that you played a part into it. Had you told Nintendo the truth, instead of pretending everything was fine and ok, Nintendo could have had the opportunity to right the Wii U's ship before it was bombed and destroyed. Now, I think Nintendo is on its last legs as far as home consoles are concerned, and there's a good chance now that they could exit the traditional home console business.

I really hope the next time you try and listen when so many people are telling you the same thing, because while I said many negative things about Nintendo and their Wii U, it wasn't because I hated Nintendo........it was just tough love.

Take care LeveledHeadGamer, and I hope to hear from you again.

So.................. Nintendo fans are now responsible for what Nintendo's marketing. SMH.

Here's a link to the video I was addressing, in case anyone was curious about it:

I doubt that would have made a difference. Nintendo tends to do whatever they want to do. If they truly listened to what Nintendo fans wanted, then we'd probably have a new Metroid, F-Zero and Earthbound by now.

To be fair and honest,  My "letter" and my sentiment is really addressed for YouTubers that carry some weight and even have Nintendo's ear.   Shokio, for example.....Some Nintendo execs actually watch his videos.

But on the other hand, fans here, as a collective, could have also raised their voice of concerns, and maybe could have rallied at least an awareness.  Instead, all I saw was "you're doing great Nintendo......keep up the good work".

That sort of sentiment doesn't do any good if it's a lie.

Now the Wii U is dead.....And I'm sure Nintendo is considering not making traditional Home consoles anymore.

It's kinda like lying to someone who has bad breath, and allowing them to go out on a date with it.   What kind of friend is that?

Your saying fans are enableing nintendo? by not demanding better of them?
I guess... but still nintendo cant get by on just the hardcore fans, to many have left them and its telling.

Im pretty sure nintendo knows the Wii U had some issues, and know what they are and how to fix them.

I disagree that fans are quite that much to blame--Nintendo making an endless series of bad moves from the very start of the generation put pretty much all of the blame on Nintendo.

However I will concede that there's a pretty alarming Nintendo Apologist attitude among a lot of fans, and acting like everything is fine and Nintendo is perfect certainly doesn't help things. In theory Nintendo could be looking at these fans and incorrectly thinking that what they're doing is fine, when those people are the minority.

I'm not sure Nintendo does know.

I mean, they are still sittin up here, doing the same shit they've always done.

No voice chat in multiplayer games.........Cersoring shit in games.....trying to block youtubers from videocasting their games.

It doesn't seem that Nintendo has learned a thing.   Where's the Nintendo fan outcry to give TRUTH to Nintendo.

Nintendo needs truth....not yes men.

Nintendo needs love.......tough love.

If you people don't start giving Nintendo the TRUTH & LOVE they deserve, for a hardware manufacturer.......Nintendo's gonna die.

Your comment holds little weight because Nintendo would have done everything the same way even if every youtuber was screaming at them that the Wii U was gonna bomb. You rarely see a company change something with their product over fan input unless it's a lot of backlash like MS got after their E3 conference.

I would have to agree.

While poor financial results surely play a role in how Nintendo chooses to handle their business, the voices of their most dedicated fans always come first. As a result, their sympathy for those fans will inevitably be their downfall.
