Forums - Gaming Discussion - Black Ops 3 is 60 fps on 360 and (sometimes) on PS3, news websites were wrong.

So major news websites such as Gamespot, IGN, and Giantbomb claimed Black Ops III on last gen was 30 fps. But frame rate analysis shows they were wrong.

I'm surprised Activision didn't simply come out and say that isn't true. Not surprisingly, the 360 version does a much better job at hitting 60 fps.

Not like it really maters. Either way, the 360/PS3 versions are gimped. Periodically hitting 60 FPS doesn't suddenly make them any less of a ripoff.

In what way are the last gen versions gimped? If they try to lower resolution, people complain. If they raise resolution, people complain that the framerate is lower? You can't expect the same experience on ps4 as you would on ps3, but at least you have the choice of whether to upgrade or remain on last gen

It certainly does matter, 60 fps is a crucial part of the CoD experience and the primary reason people continue to play years after release is for multiplayer.

Frankly, the last gen version is a bad deal for me because I play the campaigns. But for the many that are just play or are fine with multiplayer, last gen is a viable option. They still might be multi million sellers on last gen.

looks solid on last gen, definitely not the mess heap people were making it out to be

IIRC, they cut some bits of multiplayer, lowered visual performance, axed the campaign in its entirety, and there is still no actual guarantee that the last gen versions will receive full DLC support. But hey, people got $10 off and a free copy of the first Black Ops. That makes releasing a clearly inferior version of the game okay, right?

He's likely referring to the lack of a campaign on last gen Black Ops III. However, last gen versions are $10 cheaper and include a copy of the original Black Ops.

I think Activision felt comfortable doing this because the CoD games are still very popular online titles on last gen. If people don't feel its worth the money they don't have to buy it.

I think that's for consumers to decide.

If they feel they're still gonna get a lot of enjoyment out of this product as is, then it will be worth $50 to them.

campaign is gone, multiplayer is the same, zombies is the same. And of course visuals are gonna be lowered, it's 7th gen not 8th gen. If they raised the visuals, then frame rate would have suffered.

campaign is a third of the game ($20), multiplayer is a third ($20), zombies is a third ($20), black ops is worth $10.

so multiplayer ($20) + zombies ($20) + black ops ($10) for a total of $50 seems reasonable, or no?

bo3 on last gen is inferior compared to next gen (duh), but it provides an option for those who haven't or who don't want to upgrade.

Black Ops is actually worth $40 on digital stores. So its more of a deal.
