Forums - Gaming Discussion - Forbes: PS4 is terrorist communication device

The sad thing is there will be people on forums that are actually elated the PS4 has been associated with terrorism. If you think I'm wrong, you don't know people.

The PS5 Exists.

Of the many many school shootings in the US at least a few of the young men who did it played on xbox. Why hasn't the American media linked it to terror?

Regardless, maybe they used it to communicate, maybe they didn't. They night have just like to play games. I'd hardly imagine they'd risk using any from of communication like this though.

Video games are always brought up when a crazy guy shoots up a school.

I didn't say video games or consoles.  I mean when the media single out a single brand.  They know it can be damaging to the brands image.

If it was just blame video games I would agree but it is a bit more:

Belgian federal home affairs minister Jan Jambon said  that the PS4 is used by ISIS agents to communicate, and was selected due to the fact that it’s notoriously hard to monitor. “The thing that keeps me awake at night is the guy behind his computer, looking for messages from [the Islamic State]and other hate preachers,” Jambon said last Friday, according to Brussels weekly, the Bulletin. “PlayStation 4 is even more difficult to keep track of than WhatsApp.”

PlayStation’s IP-based voice systems are difficult to monitor compared to traditional forms of communication such as mobile phones and computers. And terrorists could send messages to each other within PlayStation games without speaking or typing a word.

Without speaking or typing a word? Does he think us PS gamers have some kind of telepathic link with each other?

Why do you take it so personally, it is not just PS gamers. I am not an expert but I think if I play with a friend online for example minecraft and put a sign in game 'we do this X' it is very hard to control and proof it.  Secondly in Belgium arrests has been made where consoles or PS4's were used as a communication tool and last night arrests in Brussels(Molenbeek) where PS4(s) were found could show that in this case PS4 was used as one of the communication tools aswell.

No. He thinks you guys have a peer to peer link with each other that is harder to track than normal cell phone use. Think that is what he stated isn't it? or was that part not legible? Perhaps they use the many other options of cummunicating in game that dont invovle typing or talking. I know I have never had to type or talk in a multiplayer game and can still use the in game gesters of most characters to communicate something. But what he is highlighting more is the fact that peer to peer communication is harder to track. PS4 is probably being used because it has been released in more countries world wide, and is cheaper than xbxox one and is more poplular in europe and the rest of the world than other psosible peer to peer video games systems. But hey who cares, this is a games forum and we must see that this is an attaack on sony, not someone stating what they ahve found in their job trying to help others.

Great. So now we are terrorists aswell. Fantastic..

I think the question here is: why not a PS3? There are no fees for playing online to use communication as mentioned in the article and there are also more PS3s in the wild and it is cheaper. Maybe, just maybe he had a hobby?

So you're mad that Xbox the brand isn't synonymous with school shootings...ooook

PS3 hosted Cells. Not surprising..

VGChartz♥♥♥♥♥FOREVER

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

Why the necessity to say that they could have used ps4 for communication? They could have used anything, who cares? It's not like CIA or any intelligence nucleon can track a electronic device connected to a network.

For me this sound that the marketing campaign is really desperate to get ps4 on every piece of news. This is so fucked up
