Hello, everyone. I'm trying to do a comprehensive survey of the software VGChartz buys.

Why do I want to do this? Well, I want to see how the habits of hardcore users (read: you) compare to the habits of the wider population. Also, I just really like making graphs.

I also want to see how people here are coping with digital downloads. Do people generally buy download-only software? Do people download retail-release software? How is the digital ratio for retail releases? What happens if I take away the bundled software? Things like that.

I also want to see which publishers people generally buy from, and which games people normally buy on the platform. For instance, we know that Mario Kart 8 has an attach rate of ~0.538, but does this really reflect VGChartz? Am I supposed to believe 14.5% of you actually bought Wii Party U?

Now, how do you participate? You can do two things:

1. List down your region, the devices on the platform you have, and the games you have for it. Repeat for each region, if you're split across multiple regions. Naturally, this is going to take a while, but you get to list all your games. Do note that while you have to list that, say, you bought Bloodborne digitally...you can say that you just bought Rocket League or some other digital-only game - because they're only available digitally.

2. Take a picture and/or screenshot of your collection. Make sure that your pictures are clear, and that your screenshots are un-edited. It will take me more time to pull the data, but it'll be much easier on your part.

What data am I going to release?

Attach Rate (and whether that is representative of a minority or the majority)
and (differences of attach rates based on users or devices sold)
Digital-Retail ratios (the ratio of digital sales to retail sales for retail releases)
and (the ratio of overall digital sales compared to retail sales)
Device breakdown (which devices people buy: for instance, you can buy the Persona Q special edition 3DS AND the new 3DS XL.)
Genre breakdown (whether people buy kart-racers or third-person shooters or visual novels or strategy-RPGs, etc)
Top ten games sold (digital-only and retail releases separately counted) per platform and attach rates of said games.
Publisher breakdown (which publishers people buy from) and (first-party:third-party ratio)

You can suggest other things for me to show, and I will disclose the raw data anyway.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the results are. I'll make an effort to post during the 3DS survey, assuming I'm around. I'll likely post it in text-form, so it's easier for you...and also for me to refer back to later.

Not sure if it's information you care about, but looking at play-time for certain games might also be interesting. For example, maybe a certain game is bought/downloaded by everyone, but a good portion quit after a few hours. Of course, if you're only interested in purchasing habits and not play habits...then this really doesn't matter.
