It talks about a lot of games, PlayStation VR, and other stuff.


Here are a few very very rough translation by me:

Q: In Japan, it feels like there are suddenly a rise in Unreal Engine 4 titles particular this year. Can you give us a background?

Kawasaki: Certainly, there are many announcement especially this year and last year. There are Tekken, Kingdom Hearts, Street Fighter, and recently Dragon Quest. The announcement keeps coming, and you can see there are many in the past year. But in reality, we actually talked about these games 2 to 3 years ago. The timing of the announcement just didn't happened until last summer.

Q: Lastly, please tell us about the future development of Unreal Engine. So let's get to the point, are there any hidden gems?

Kawasaki: Again, it's scary when these things get checked all over the internet; however (laughs), 
possibly, I believe there is one AAA title to be announced using Unreal Engine 4 by the end of the year.

Any ideas on what this game is going to be?

It will be on PS4, and it will be made by Epic games Japan. :^)

That aside, it is rather exciting to see the direction Japanese developer are heading to over the next four years - alignment with the western development scene is nice to see, since there will be more of a focus on higher detail graphics if you're that sort of person. Isn't UE4 relatively easier to work with across platforms?

yeah you are right, i was wrong, maybe i always thingking Disgaea series is one of triple A title on Japan for Japanese people,  i cannot think anyother games beside FF, MGS or first party games from SONY or Nintendo. And also I just write randomly because i just hate Disgaea using the same old graphic from PS2.

Sounds like Resident Evil 7 to me. Resident Evil 6 was announced the same year it came out so it could indeed be it. And the rumor mill for the next installment has already started . Also Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City came out the same year as Resident Evil 6 so Umbrella Corps doesn't negate the release of Resident Evil 7 in 2016. That's seems likely to me.

You forgot to add Final Fantasy VII remake to the list of japanese games using UE4.

Has that been confirmed? I just took the list from neogaf, but some on there were speculating that the AAA game to be announced using UE4 might just be FFVIIR or Resident Evil 7.

Maybe Level 5's AAA PS4 game.
