Man you guys all argue so much about what is and isn't a game that I wonder if you actually ever play any...

The big games of Q4 are not exclusive (with perhaps the exception of Halo). They are the same big games as were big last year, and the year before. FIFA, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed etc.

Exclusives are nowhere near as relevant as they used to be and to be quite blunt, this generations sales confirm that. People just want a machine where they can play all their mainstay 3rd party franchises.

Being the best place for the big name 3rd party titles is the system that will sell the best too the mass market. Exclusives are the coin toss for the undecided.

Exclusives have their place, and are great, but there hasn't been an exclusive since Wii Sports and Wii Fit that really drove the market in a particular direction and a big factor in them causing impulse buys was a very cheap cost of entry.

Take a look at the sales of 3DS and Vita...

If those exclusives were multiplatform, would the sales be divided 50/50?

You're taking an answer and trying to apply it to a hypothesis.

Take a look at sales of Wii U to date vs PS4 (first year).

I'd also wager in 10 years time, the view of Vita will improve greatly and it'll be held in much higher regard than it currently is.

Super Mario Maker not big or a game of its own? It will outsell every Sony exclusive this year combined.

I think it'd be close for the holiday, but it isn't going to outsell every Sony exclusive for the whole year.

I think it will LTD.

Bloodborne and The Order are their best selling exclusives this year, or am I missing something?

I sincerely doubt that. Western gamers don't really care much for the games on the Vita.

Unless you're talking about Japanese gamers or Western gamers with a fetish for Japanese games... But they already appeciate the Vita library now.

Anyway Monster Hunter, Pokémon, Dragon Quest and Yo-kai Watch exclusivity destroyed the Vita in Japan.

For Mario Maker, I'm expecting 4-5m LTD, but this holiday I'm thinking 2-3m.  Reasonably in the ballpark compared to NSMBU which is the 2nd best selling Wii U game.

Bloodborne - 1.41m

The Order - 1.04m

So I think already it's possible but kinda unlikely.

Then I think a few of the big Japanese exclusives will push pretty close to another million.  Probably not much more than that.

Holiday sales alone you're probably right, but I meant LTD sales.

I'm going to be optimistic and predict 6M for SMM btw.

People generally didn't care for the Dreamcast either. This is why I think it's standing will improve in time.

It has the definitive version of quite a few titles.

I don't know, I wasn't really active in the gaming community during the DC days. I don't even know anymore when I first learned the DC existed. Or Sonic for that matter, he was never as famous as Mario to me. I didn't know he existed in the '90s.

But the DC had more games that appealed to the West than the Vita. HC are also regarded higher than HH in the West.
