Op should rename this thread the official Uncharted NDC thread.

So is DF basically ditching the "remaster" term and calling everything a remake? They call it the same game with a new coat of paint. That's exactly what a remaster is, right?

I think you can call them all remakes or remasters, but if upping the framerate, resolution and tidying some assets up is "more than just a remaster", presumably rebuilding the game entirely with all of the above (in multiplayer at least), must be so much more.

It did get derailed a little.

On the all remaster and remake thing I believe its more of the way you interpret it and is open to opinion, Sure just upping the framerate to 60 FPS and polishing up some textures is a definatly remaster but creating all the assests from scratch that is more of a remake to me.

This might spark some discussion

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_remake

A video game remake is a video game closely adapted from an earlier title, usually for the purpose of modernizing a game for newer hardware and contemporary audiences. Typically, a remake of such game software shares essentially the same title, fundamental gameplay concepts, and core story elements of the original game.

A remake typically shares very little of the original assets and code with the original game, distinguishing it from an "enhanced port," partial remake, or remastering.

If it was just a straight port, I would agree.

But given visual overhaul with 1080p, I think 30 fps is acceptable.

30 fps for single player and 60 fps for multiplayer is a good compromise if we're talking about current gen games but not last gen. That would be an embarrassment for a remastered game.

Bullshit, youre ignoring this remaster looks better than many 8th gen games.

This isnt 7th gen graphics with relatively minor improvments. This is 8th gen quality graphics running at 1080p/30 fps. I played Gears 2 the other day and the visual disparity was somewhat jarring even though Gears 2 is still a great looking 7th gen game.

The Halo 2 remaster does a pretty good job at maintaining 60 fps. But its not as polished and sub 1080p.

They could have done what they did with uncharted, remastering all games in 60fps and 1080P and improve some minor textures

Yes but instead the put more work into it and remade all the assetts.

At the cost of 60fps, i dont even see the reason why it had to be remastered if they cant archive 60fps. Well at least PC gamers will get the 60fps

Pretty much all 30 fps games are at the cost of 60 fps.

I feel like some people arent bringing common sense to this thread. The Gears remaster is one of many 30 fps games this gen.

This so much. All uncharted collection is just a port with no multiplayer....

How many times have you been corrected on this sort of thing? This level of ignorance has to be intentional.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

9 year anniversary and bringing the visuals up to date with current gen standards. NDC has last gen graphics.

Can you prove it isn't a port when a multitude of ports that come to other hardware have the same type of improvements?
