Forums - Gaming Discussion - SE trying to dash our hopes for DQXI already?

So DQXI is supposed looking to release 2016 in Japan to coincide with DQ's 30th anniversary and both version are releasing simultaneously, both those things are awesome:

(This is a tweet about the simultaneous release)

What's less awesome is this comment the SE Europe gave Eurogamer:

Square Enix Europe has shared a statement with Eurogamer regarding whether Dragon Quest 11 will find its way west. "We don't have a concrete plan at the moment," it reads. "However, we will consider it as we've done in the past for other Dragon Quest titles. We don't have further information to share at the moment."

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-07-28-dragon-quest-11-is-coming-to-3ds-and-playstation-4-and-the-nx

Now we do have a Verendus comment saying that every DQ game on PS4 is headed to the west, but who knows maybe things have changed, maybe he was trolling, maybe he's a fraud. Is SE going to not bring the game over to the west leaving us at the mercy of Nintendo and Sony taking over again? Are they playing coy? Will we be able to play this game? I'll be sad if I'm not able to play DQ XI on my PS4. I mean just look at it!!

Well good thing that some consoles have no region lock :)

Well the PS DQs came over so "the past" isn't necessarily a bad reference, I don't think there are grounds to get worried with that.

Good Guy Sony trying to make us learn Japanese since PS3.

Yeah, I'm still pretty sure that the PS4 will come over (it better) but I can easily see the 3DS version just being stuck in Japan.

it would be hard to find the kanji character and convert it to romanji then translate it to an english word.  that would be really hard to progress on a game.  unless we select either choices and able to progress into a game. :D

it could be a 2017 release in the west, i hope.

I think there's a big chance for DQ XI (PS4) coming to the west. The 3DS version in the other hand is a diffirent story. The last DQ game Nintendo published in the west was Joker 2 and that didn't sell that well over here.

I am a Nintendo fanatic.

Hopefully NX can run the Ps4 version.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

The numbered titles have always come over with only three exceptions:

DQV SNES: Enix didn't want to pay for the higher capacity SNES carts, so they passed on localizing the game.
DQVI SNES: Same idea as V, but it also released really late in the SNES's life which made a localization basically a non-possibility.
DQX: It's an MMO that has constant costs associated with it for things like server maintenance, and it may have been seen as too risky a proposition to localize. I guess we still can't say for certain that it isn't coming, but after several years and many ports without one coming west, I think we can safely assume this one just is not happening.

Numbered titles skipping just does not really happen, which is nice. They're basically the one small guarantee the west gets for DQ titles.
