What is the Weekly 100 Mario Challenge?

It's a collaborative 100 Mario challenge based on 16 levels that VGchartz users have shared in the official Mario Maker thread: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=206987

In this way, the weekly challenges covers three important things for forum video game event:

1. Gather users to play their game cooperatively in an event.

2. Allow all users in this thread to try out most if not all of levels shared in this thread

3. Have a flexible approach in a forum video game event.

Point number 3 will be covered below in both the first point of the Particpant section and the first question in the FAQs section

 Basic Overview rules

1. Gather 12 users to play in this event.

2. Choose 16 levels that those 12 users never created to make it fresh for all.

3. And to be flexible, allow this challenge to occur over 4 days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and another day before the next Friday)

4. All 12 users are sharing the same 100 lives. It's a collaborative 100 Mario Challenge!

5. First come, first serve! Post early, or sign in the google form sheet (recommended) to claim your spot for a certain day!

6. You cannot sign up for the next week if you participated in an even last week or the current week.

7. Priority goes to weekly challenge moderators aka the last 8 people who signed up out of the first 20 and then the returning veterans who have the least deaths in last week's run.

8. Weekly challenge moderators keep track of the stats. Two mods per day only. Mike can participate in all four and is free to assign more mods per day if he he needs to.

 Participants and Event Planning:

1. Participants are split into four sets of three. One set is assigned to one of the four days of the challenge and can only play at that day.

2. Decide on a time gap each player can particpate in their assigned day. This time gap means each person can immediately jump in and play. I recommend a time gap of at least 3 hours.

3. For that day and time gap, create a seperate thread where the participants and the daily moderators can respond to. This helps participants keep track on the event's progress. This thread can be used for other participants to talk about the day's challenge. Posting one reply in a challenge thread when you're aren't participating will give you a warning. Posting a second reply will kick you out of this week's challenge. If you post more than two, see Punishment section. This include moderators posting in the wrong day.

4. 4 levels must completed in each day. Players only have two chances to beat a level before the next person in that group tries. But if a player beats a level, the next player gets to play the new level. This allows everyone a chance to play because this a collaborative Mario Maker challenge.

5. If the next person in the group (let's say the second)  cannot play, the third person will try, and then then the first. The second player can play afterwards if the four levels of that day aren't completed yet. But if they cannot, they are unable to participate for this week's level. See punishment if they repeat this for more than one Mario Maker challenge (as in the week event).

6. If no one in a  group isn't currently playing for more than 40 minutes in their designated time gap, 25 lives are subtracted and any leftover levels are carried to the next day. All 16 levels must be completed somehow in the four days.

7. Likewise, if four players play through their designated time but couldn't finish their 4 levels, it is carried over to the next day. However, if all four levels are completed in the next day with less than 8 deaths, 8 lives are added to the total Mario lives count.

 Recording your attempts

You must record your attempts to validate your completion or failure of the level.

Here's how:

1. When you enter the level,  immediately post a screenshot of it along with the your current time along with your time zone at Miiverse (ex: 6:00 PM PT). Miiverse usually records a timestamp of that post by itself, but to be safe, record your time anyway. Player's forgetting to this are excused if Miiverse does record a timestamp. If it doesn't record the time and you didn't post one, see the Punishment section below.

2. If you win, post a miiverse screenshot of Mario on the flagpole along with the current time and your time zone. (Again, Miiverse usually records a timestamp of that post by itself... If it doesn't record the time and you didn't post one, see the Punishment section below.)

3. If you lose, post a miiverse screenshot or a regular miiverse posts saying "Fail @ attempt #1" or "#2" if its your second death at the level along with your current time and time zone. (Again, Miiverse usually records a timestamp of that post by itself... If it doesn't record the time and you didn't post one, see the Punishment section below.)

 Punishment (Rule breaking)

(Ctrl + F: Participants and Event Planning: Point#3)

1. Posting three or more times in an weekly challenge thread when you are not a participant will automatically kick you out in the next weekly challenge. You will also receive no warning post in that week's challenge thread as well. And posting in the next week's challenge thread will result in you being banned in the following week's challlenge event.

(Ctrl + F: Participants and Event Planning: Point#5)

2. Not being able to participate in more than two weekly challenge when you signed up for them will result in you being automatically disqualified for the following week's challenge. We understand plans change but continuous absence is not tolerated in this challenge. You will be punished.

Ctrl+ F: Recording your attempts: Point #1)

3. If you fail to record your time when starting a level and Miiverse doesn't record it right, your stats for that week's challenge is not recorded.

Ctrl+ F: Recording your attempts: Point #2)

4. If you fail to record  your time when failing or completing a level and Miiverse doesn't record it right, your stats for that week's challenge is not recorded.

5. If you are banned (not kicked out) for more than two weekly challenge in a month, you are banned for the entire month. No ifs or butts. We don't tolerate rule breaking in this event.

6. If you are banned formore than two months of weekly challenge in a row, you will be banned for the next month as well.

7. If you are banned for more than four months of weekly challenges in a row, something is wrong with you.

 FAQS:

Q #1: Why make this a week long event?

In order for this to have a big collaborative atmosphere, it should have a lot of participants in it and 12 people in each event is a good sample size since VGchartz has around 100 active users per day. But underestandably, not everyone can play at the same time or even the same day. Allowing this challenge to occur throughout week with threeof the days being free for most students and workers is a great compromise. A fourth day can be voted in a painless google form where real VGchartz users can vote and the most popular day will be chosen if at least 3 users can sign up for that day.
