He asked me about the PS3 price, and when he heard it, clearly was not disinterested; however, when I mentioned that the 360 also has Madden 07, he was clearly even less interested in that. He didn't like Xbox he said. Never been a fan. This guy was clearly willing to keep playing his PS2 until the PS3 was cheap enough, then he'd buy that. I get the feeling that I'm getting a very, very large shipment of Wiis on Sunday. I... don't really have any substantial evidence to back this up, but I'll let you guys know if my hunch is correct.

Awesome, thanks for the updates.  I wonder how many of the PS2's owners are more casual like that.  I think we can all agree the PS2 held the majority of the casual audience last generation.  I wonder how many of those casual gamers are going to buy something else or just wait for the PS3 to drop within their price range.

Yea, too many people are uninformed on the subject so they don't really pick a system that suits them best. Moreover, a system that they know best. Which is hope for Sony. I am too much of a fanboy, I probably would have tried to convince him to get a different console...

Lol I'm pretty sure stores don't encourage their employees directing customers by their own bias

except for the Wii,
the low sales of the Xbox360 and PS3 indicate that people are no really switching for next-gen (soon 2 years and only 10M Xbox360 selled)

I think a lot of people are waiting for price drop or better game
(maybe they are saving their money for Xmas)

On a Dutch website named gamed they asked the question: if all the consoles we're 250 Euro, which one would you buy. At first the 360 was the leader, with the WII second and PS3 third, but the WII has reached the nummer 1 spot now:


Wii: innovatief & Nintendo games. 40,7% (1193) (Wii: innovative & Nintendo games)


PS3: Blu-Ray & graphics 16,4% (482) (says it all)


Xbox 360: Live & graphics. 28,9% (849) (says it as well)


Geen: ik blijf PC gamer. 9,5% (280) (none, I stick with PC gaming)


Allemaal, ik ben een échte gamer. 4,4% (130) (all of them, I'm a real gamer)

PS3 as third doesn't make it as a real wanted console, does it, even if it would cost the same as the WII and 360.

but for the moment at least, Halo3, GoW3, MGS4, Bluedragon2, Bioshock, Unchartred etc
are not suppose to go in the Wii ???
And nintendo game : metroid/mario/zelda ... quite limiting in fact

Do people know the game coming at the end of the year ?

well, so now,
if Sony still want to ""win"" (replace by "not lose"), they need :

the biggest E3 they have ever made
AND
price cut (-100)
AND
no special news from Xbox360 or wii (big new game or new controler or price cut)

==> will be very hard for PS3 :(

@ libellule. Wii actually does have a decent list of exclusives with Mario, Zelda, Metroid and SSB all triple A titles.

But to be honest Wiigirl I think those results just show that Holand has the same rampant Wii fandom that can be found on this site, I think that if it actually happened in reality the results would be very different.
Just shows that Nintendo really really know how to market a product.

Also note that most people don't care or know about games coming in 6 or more months. Their opinion likely based on their experience with the console they've played with.
Maybe there are more Wii owners in Dutch and hence the higher votes?

The ones who're posting on Gamed are more Sony fanboys then Nintendo I can say. Considering what's being post, Gamed is not what you can call a pro Nintendo site, just a very basic multi platform website which drawns a lot of MS / Sony fans.

People blind? Well not everyone is fond of those shooter or gangsta-like games?! Does everyone have to have to same taste like you PS3 / 360 owners have? I used to play PS2 a lot with Japanese RPG's, but got fed up with that, constant playing the same genre. Now I have a WII and in years I haven't been so pleased about a console since the moment when I plugged in Dragon Quest VIII fresh imported from Japan. Don't judge about people's taste that easily I'd say. Not everybody is a sucker for GFX, as I am not.
