Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is PS4 "remasters" really remasters?

So are all PC games remasters? Like mgs5 ground zeros? Its been ported to PC with imporved visuals and framerate.

No. PC games are not remasters by default, they can look worse if your hardware is bad. They are treated as PC version. You can change settings, you can override game settings, and you can mod PC games.

There are PC remasters, those are labelled as such and improve assets over the original PC game.

By the OP's logic we should call all PS4 games remastered Xbox One games...because 1080p.

Yes, that is what I am saying. How can you put minimal effort with hardly any upgrades and call them "remasters".

Now you know the amount of effort it takes developers to port a PS3 game too, and what optimization they did to achieve the desired remastered results.

I can not argue with that insider knowledge. Well played!

Come on. The slight resolution difference and framerate increase hardly made a difference in games like GOW3 and Uncharted collection and you know it. My problem is pc games with decent hardware can acheieve better resolution, better framerate, more particle effects, ect and we don't call them remasters. Why should we call GOW3 or Uncharted Collection "remasters"

yes, if uncharted and GOW 3 pass as remasters, then all the games that are ported to PC qualify as remasters as well.

Don't forget all PS4 versions count as remasterred Xbox One games as well.

Thank you. I don't consider GOW 3 or Uncharted Collection as remasters. I consider them "the ps4 edition".

According to defention, I guess this is true. I think the difference between xbox one and ps4 games are minimal, but it's what Sony considers as remasters.

Have you seen the Microsoft remasters?
