Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Here's my guess : Nintendo will release two NX in one year

So basically, a fusion console, released at separate times..

I still don't really like the Fusion Concept, but will just have to wait for actually news first..

Why not three?

They might. Iwata mentioned if they unify the platforms somehow, they could have more than just two form factors.

People talk about a Nintendo mobile approach, why not also a Nintendo Phone, just like everyone was rumoring a PSPhone once.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

So you think the handheld NX will be backwards compatible, but only when connected to the NX home console (to provide the second screen)? That seems... unlikely.

I, for one, really hope they don't ditch the gamepad idea, because I love it, but who knows. I don't really like to speculate.

Exactly my thoughts, yes. It's either that or the gamepad has to be sold separatly, and it seems even more unlikely since nobody except wii u owners will use the backward compatibility of the NX.

Its very possible, but if they do the next Pokemon game on the NX handheld i would be poor lol.

NX could really be a hybrid.  NX home console - use a normal controller.  NX handheld is the gamepad itself that you can insert 3ds-type games in it with a slick form factor that you can travel around.  NX home console has its own internal storage, NX handheld can have the micro SDs then you can transfer games and saves on both or either.

but having separate release i don't know, it would be better to have a single launch date for both.

I'm assuming something similar, at this point. If the shipment figure rumour is correct, and Nintendo aim for "Nintendo-like" profit in March 2017, then they'd need to go big on NX and their smartphone games.

I don't Think Nintendo will release 2 consoles in a same year, I rather believe they will them in 2016 (3DS) and 2017 (Wii U), both times during Fall/start of holiday season

No. If it's the Fusion idea, then thwy will release the home console first , then the handheld. The 3DS has a lot of games still coming (most of them 3rd party, but the system, but still), and the handheld has more support and games coming than the U. The WiiU needs a quick successor inmeiately, the 3DS still has some steam left. Home console end of 2016, handheld 2017.

You know it deserves the GOTY.
