AMD is so broke they're barely worth squat anyway. 

BTW I heard the Norwegian Oil Fund was buying AMD. They could easily afford it too, so what's unlikely with that? Amirite? They have way more cash than Microsoft and Sony combined anyway

Really? I've seen plenty of people get banned for putting out this stuff before. If not flaming, its simple spam. Anyway its reported, hopefully it gets locked soon.

In some ways it makes more sense than MS buying them. MS is primarily a software company, Sony is primarily a hardware company. Sony makes componentry that is used in devices manufactured by other companies (sensors for iPhones for instance). AFAIK MS does not supply hardware components to 3rd party device manufacturers.

Sony is therefore better suited to become a chipset manufacturer and supplier than MS is.

Problem is, Sony really does not need to acquire a loss-making venture and try to turn it into a profitable division of the company. If they were in a better financial position themselves then this would not be such a left-field suggestion.

The only thing wrong with this thread is the title. It should be changed to make it more obvious that this is a speculative jest. But your reporting of it is an overreaction IMO. I hope it's not locked, but I do think a mod should change the title, or the OP should on the advice of a mod.
