Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Mass Effect Series is only 2 years younger than God of War.

Because it was lauched on the PS2...

And was a instant hit in a 100mi install base, ME on the other hand only took of after ME2.

Which means GoW has been milked more?

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

Are you trying to make me feel old? :(

Love GoW & Mass Effect, hope they're both around for another 10+ years.

Santa Monica is too slow and inefficient. They need to learn from From Software, 5 AAA titles in 6 years, that's the stuff.

That's exactly the point. Would rather they choose to make more AAA titles instead of wasting time being support dev. Not to mention that cancelled sci fi project; it just points to them being inefficient. They are like Sony's poster child, Sony spends on them; just got a big brand new office next so long ago. I am saying this because I love their games and want them to release more titles.

Hey, you're wrong. The original Mass Effect was a hit. According to VGChartz it sold over a million in 5 weeks and was a multi million seller before the release of Mass Effect 2. Furthermore, about a year after release on the 360, Mass Effect came to PC and gained a following there.

However, you're right about one thing. God of War launched on PS2, so that's a reason we thnk God of War might be much older.

For some reason I actually forgot Devil May Cry is about four years older than God of War. I assumed they came out about the same time.

No they don't. They're SUPPOSED to, but they allocate approximately one person to each incubated project, and only after months of delaying. They had one person work on the final PSAS patch which took 10 months to come out and five months of them saying it was coming, before they even started. They had a couple people work slowly on the Twisted Metal patch that made online playable, which took six months. Same for Warhawk, Starhawk, Fat Princess, and so on. They never did any physical work on the thatgamecompany trilogy but their name is listed next to the developer as top billing. Meanwhile they have several people working on microtransactions for God of War Ascension.

So that's no excuse for their lazy output.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

They are two excellent series. But I think typically it is easier for a (well put together) RPG franchise to build a deep and wide-ranging fandom, whereas short action titles are at a comparative disadvantage.
