Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Missing Pokémon game

This will be the first year in awhile that there will not be a new, sequel, or remake of a Pokémon game in the fall. I am not counting the Mystery Dungeon as that is a spin off.

What are your thoughts? Going to be sad to not go catching up all those little cuties? Happy the series is getting a break?

I'm happy. I really want GameFreak to give the main series a well deserved rest. If they can release the next Pokemon during the first or second year of the NX, it would really help sales.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I got a feeling we get Z next year, then something all new on NX. So yeah, I'm with you.

This

As much as I like Pokemon, it will be good for the main series to take some time off.

I would rather have heard something about Pokken but I guess that will release sometime later in 2016, and therefore not shown.

There are two options:

1. Announce Pokémon X/Y's successor in a separately held Direct within the next few months. Although it would be a fairly late announcement.
2. Have an early 2016 Direct like they did with X/Y in 2013 to announce X/Y successor's release in '16 Holiday season.

I'm going with #2 because I have a feeling X/Y's successor is going to be like B2/W2 in the sense that it releases after a new console has already been unleashed. The next generation will be on NX, if it's a handheld.

I'm surprised about this but it's better to hold off a year and make a better Pokemon game :p

Do they really come out that often? It doesn't feel like it's been every year.

If we go by North America releases, there seem to have been a few gaps. There was a almost 2 years between Crystal and Ruby/Saphire. And then more than 2 years between Emerald and Diamond/Pearl. And then again another 2 year gap from there to Platinum.

They come out a lot more often than I thought. But it's not uncommon for some of them to be two years appart.

True, but it does feel weird since it has had the 1 year gap for a while now.

I'm happy about no Pokemon main story game this year. Literal burn out was setting in on me and I plan on buying 1 more main story game this year, the only one i've missed since I started buying. Just hoping for some luck right now.
