Forums - Sony Discussion - FFVII and the Nomura question.

So, FFVII remake was announced, and most of us are not sure yet wether it's a dream or not.

The announce of a FFVII remake by itself is a megaton, of course, but for a fan of Kingdom Hearts like myself, and probably many others on this website, it sure is even bigger. After the KH franchise and TWEWY, the quality of Nomura as a director has been proven over and over again.

Until FFvXIII of course, when his project was thrown into a developpment hell, as people suspect a big part of his crew got moved to other projects in development hell themselves, like FFXIV 2.0 and FFXIII. After all these were over, Tabata overtook the project, scratched away everything that was done under Nomura and Nomura stated that he could finally work 100% on Kingdom hearts 3.

But now we see this trailer that seems unreal, with Nomura marked as director. At this point, I wonder if it's not a bad joke from Square Enix. Nomura said that working on a numbered FF had been a heavy burden for him, and that after FFvXIII he would probably never do it again. And an FFVII remake of the scale this trailer implies (if half the cutscenes of FFVII are of that quality), FFVIIR would not be shy of FFXV's budget. Moreover, which is the priority for SE, KH3, or FFVII ? They again end up with two huge announced games with the same director, when they said they would not again do the mistake of announcing games too soon.

So which will be sacrified, KH3 or FFVIIR ? Or will Nomura be able to handle the two ? Or did another director take over KH3 too ? Is Nomura cursed ?!

FF7 story is already done, can confirm lightning wont make an appearance.

We getting both no? KH3 and FF7R

Nomura is SE's most talented and valuable asset by far, and he has a long history of being vital to multiple projects at once. While KHIII is more than a full-time job for him already, the FFVII remake won't be quite as time consuming, since it is still a remake of a realised vision, as opposed to something completely new under his creative control.

If anyone in the entire world can make multiple stunning games at once, it is Tetsuya Nomura. Especially now that SE's executive restructuring will stop fucking over his development teams! c;

Nomura was probably taken away from FFXV to work and concentrate in both Kingdom Hearts and FFVII Remake first in PS4.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

I like this theory in particular because it would mean he started working on FFVII in 2012. Hopefully we will know more tonight already, i wish Nomura would step on his biggest stage yet (the biggest he could do so far was Japan Expo France and I think we might have scared him). Or a video of him at least.

Hopefully that. I do agree with the part about Nomura being a genius but i'm affraid the stress will end up making him run away, start his company where he will do kinect and/or mobile games.

While it's true that a lot of the job has already been done for FFVII, it's mostly pre-production. Every graphical would have to be done again from scratch.

Also going from there :   -----------------> to there :

requires a lot of creativity

Which of the pictures was an actual character model from FFVIII PSOne? I forgot.

I don't know these megatons announcements messed with my brains and I forgot a lot of things too.

It's possible to manage 2 games at once, but I'm sure KH3 will be the main focus because FF7R is a reboot from a completed game.
