Forums - Gaming Discussion - Never buy weapons in the Witcher 3

One thing that's baffled me, where's the armour sets for the viper school and more importantly the wolf school? I wonder if they'll come DLC!?

I made one mistake and that was trying to do the right thing in a mission and what did I get? nothing.

Yeah, the great thing about the Witcher is not about good or bad decisions, its about whatever helps you profit. If you try to be the good guy more often than not you'll get attacked or lose out on money. Its a great lesson that life isnt white or black, but really shades of grey.

What about supporting your local artisan? Sven the Weapon Merchant has a family to feed, you know.

Well, technically he crafts weapons for you, and you still have to pay him for that xD

True. I've never paid a dime over 23 crowns for making weapons unless its for parts for those weapons. Mind you, the weapon has to be extra exceptional for me to go out of my way as well.  There shouldn't be a weapon in the poorer town that I just left thats for sale that I dont have thats superior in quality. Every area you go to should be a stepping stone.

That's a bit of a problem with openworld, pacing. Witcher 3 has bad pacing in the open world design. High and low level stuff is all mixed together in Velen. The AI is glicthy too. I finished a lvl 22 treasure hunt, nothing ever showed up to stop me. Another treasure guarded by a ?? level Basilisk which I couldn't even scratch chased me off at first. Then when I walked by a second time he was nowhere to be found, treasure collected. I have most of the diagrams for the superior usrsine armor set already, just the steel sword missing. Can't use it for another 15 levels.

I'm currentluy using Angivare and Deithwen for swords, both level 9, looted somewhere. Much better than what I can craft at lvl 12.
I do still wear my griffen school armor (except trousers), as you can't get the upgrades back you put on it.

Yes I totally agree. I love doing secondary quests or even explore the world without any objective, you always find new gears about everywhere doing so.

When I can I often keep some decent gear in my inventory to replace the damaged I wear instead of repairing it...

Pretty much golden rule in all RPG's. You reach a new area and the gear that the npc sells is better than yours. But if you just continue, you will most likely find those very same equipment in the area. So really you are spending X amount of money to have the equipment like 30 minutes sooner. And you'll have he equipment looted by the time you reach the boss of said area anyway, when you would possibly need it.

All I buy in Witcher 3 is books and diagrams. Then maybe an herb here or there if one short or something in alchemy.

Seems urnotstupid. :)

Good man.

I feel bad taking peoples money in this game (LOL). Most of them are so poor, but the threats are so great.

Agreed. I'd much rather start my own collection of ears!

It's a shame that you can't argue the price both ways for contracts. I'd probably be more generous and charge next to nothing. Money isn't needed too much.
