Kindly keep such passive aggressive jabs to yourself. It is not conducive to an amiable forum environment.

as much as i agree with you about what youre saying, i hope you didnt report this guy so you can try to get him banned, because that is a really cheap way to get out of the arguments he brought to your attention. you completely bypassed what he was trying to say and instead focused on one part of his post that had nothing to do with his point.

for some reason, i dont get the feeling that you really care for an "amiable forum environment" and instead would rather be more focused on getting someone who doesnt agree with you kicked off of here. its a cheap tactic if you ask me.

I saw no point having a discussion with someone who was already making veiled jabs, it would have quickly turned toxic.

If you wish to discuss the matter I'm happy to. I maintain that outside of PS4/Xbone, PS3/360 were about as similar as any major consoles ever have been. In previous generations, machines like the PS2 and Xbox or the N64 and PS1 were far more differentiated.

For me, it looks like this:

1. PS2: the greatest console of all time.
2. PS3/xbox 360: I would have chosen xbox 360 as my second console if it wasn't for the horrible failure rate. Mine broke in 4 months.
3. SNES: the system where most of my childhood gaming took place. Mario kart SNES, donkey kong country 1 and 2. Multiple third party games like street fighter 2, MK1 and 2 and a lot more that I don't remember.
4. PS1/N64: both share the same amount of gaming time that gen.
5. NES: the one that started it all.

IMO For me Wii is the worst console ever. It has good games but the third parties selection weren't good. The Wii motes and I never got along. Too expensive for what it offered. Poor online infrastructure.

I wonder why I new this thread would be filled with Nintendo just entering it...

Simply put, the PS2 not being there, and actually topping the list, makes it doesn't be objective at all

He mentioned something about games being the most important thing. And yet the console with by far the biggest and most diverse library is not even on the list. Yeah I don't thing there's anything objective about that list.

This.  PS2 at the least should be in the top 5.  It was the last console where third party exclusives were important.

My personal top 5 (I don't care if current gen isn't allowed or not):
1. Wii U
2. PS3
3. GCN
4. PS2
5. Wii

Again, this is my personal list based off my experiences. I refuse to compose an "objective" list because that's ridiculous and such a thing is reliant on opinions anyways.

7th gen, either PS3/360.

Not only for the modern games, but XBLA gave me many classics from my childhood that bridged generations (Doom 1/2, Duke Nukem, Gunstar heroes, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Perfect Dark, Banjo Kazooie 1/2), etc. No console has ever given me so much classics alongside modern hits.

And those who say PS2, plenty of its greatest hits were ported over to PS3/360 as well. The 7th gen really had all gens rolled into one like no other before it.

You should treat each gen for what it was.  Based on that logic, 7th gen won't be that special if we consider that every major game are being remastered for current gen.  Halo master chief collection, gear of war, god of war, possible uncharted collection, TLOU, you get my point.

1. SNES - Best console of all time. By a large margin.
2. PS2 - A sales beast, with games for all tastes
3. NES - Brought game industry back. One of the most important ones.
4. PS1 - 3d era begins.
5. WII - A new concept, fun and nice console.

On 7th gen systems alone you have access to a massive back-catalogue of classic games. Over two decades worth of gaming history at your fingertips.

On 2/3 of 8th gen systems you don't even have basic backwards compatibility.

Nintendo's biggest success the Wii and the "Wii" series of games that went to sell over 200 mill combined is a product of Nintendo being inspired by the PlayStation Eyetoy tech and series of games.

Miyamoto was inspired to create Pikmin while watching ants in a garden. It does not mean the ants deserve credit for creating Pikmin.

2. N64
3. SNES
4. PS1
5. 3DS

Are you trying to make me your enemy, m89? (ง ͠° ͟ل͜ ͡°)ง

1. WiiU. Yep, I was out of the videogame world until this beauty brought me back :)
2. GCN. Stellar first party lineup, decent third party support, best controller ever.
3. PS2. Awesome games' catalogue. Sony's best, in my opinion.
4. N64. I didn't like the cartridges, but, Mario 64 was the first game I looked in awe.
5. 3DS. Best Nintendo handheld. And it has my favourite Zelda HH game (ALBW)
