I predict Shadow of the Eternals gets confirmed as a WiiU exclusive.

You know that game that was supposed to be the Eternal Darkness 'spiritual successor'?

So yeah, we know the kickstarter failed multiple times (750k funding goal was never reached). The studio behind it, Precursor Games, went bankrupt after losing a long fought legal battle with Epic Games.

However, the Precursor Games team is now organized under a new business filing Quantum Entanglement Entertainment and there's word of Shadow of the Eternals going back into production.

So I predict Nintendo now has moved ahead with moneyhatting this project, which had been in early stages of production on WiiU before. But why now a WiiU exclusive? What held Nintendo back before? The legal issues Precursor faced were really a concern for any publisher of picking it up, Nintendo included. Because Precursor could risk making this WiiU exclusive purely on their own accord, the PC & PS4 versions were added, and the Kickstarter was attempted so Precursor could overcome on their own the challenges and risks of not having a publisher.

However, with those legal issues settled, a new publisher can freely move in and white knight the project. Since the team has worked pretty extensively with Nintendo before and given the WiiU's software draught, this is a natural pairing, right? We've had word that the project is back on track, but no official announcement of the partner behind it. Doesn't that sound Nintendo-ish? If it were any other publisher, you'd think they'd announce it by now!

Feel free to post more! Do you think we'll see Shadow of the Eternals at E3?

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

It certainly sounds possible. Nintendo has done similar things this gen.

I think this whole project was toxic and the game is dead. Nintendo parted with Silicon Knights for good reason.

That would be pretty awesome.

I think its possible.

2014: bayo2
2015: devils Third
2016: Shadow of the Eternal

Each year one "failed" project revived by nintendo

Why so toxic? I know Silicon Knights had problems with one particular employee, but that can happen to *any* developer, any business

If this is anything like the original Eternal Darkness, it should be great.

And besides, the Polygon article confirms its alive in some way.

I rule it out. Nintendo has moved past the point where they fund projects for prestige reasons.

Fatal Frame V and SMT x FE show otherwise. These are projects that are not likely at all to sell well, but they're forging on ahead with those.

Nintendo did revive the Eternal Darkness trademark back in 2013, just after the kickstarter failure so who knows.

Essentially reports were that Silicon Knights lived off the reputation of Eternal Darkness and that Nintendo helped that project quite a bit. See also the MGS remake.

They made Too Human with Microsoft, which I'm pretty sure bombed critically and sales wise.  Then they went to Activision and made X-Men: Destiny and that was a disaster of a title.

Point is I loved Eternal Darkness, but it is clear that Silicon Knights got desperate after two major bombs and tried to drum up support and the crowd funding effort failed while being plagued by bad press about reports within the studio and people who run it.  At this stage I'd rather someone else try to mimic the best elements of Etenral Darkness and Silicon Knights just go away.

Didn't one of the lead developers get busted for child pornography or something like that???
The media could put a really nasty spin on a story like that...
Would Nintendo take that risk???

Have a nice day...
