December 4 is too late for XCX to get the full momentum of the holiday shopping season, but there will be some push for it yet.

I've long hoped that XCX would capture the interest for RPG and sci-fi fans at its release. The challenge is that XCX is releasing at roughly the same time period of Fallout 4 and the new Star Wars movie - so it may difficult to muster the RPG/sci-fi interest group. But since Zelda U isn't coming this holiday, maybe it'll have some breathing room.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I'm guessing Splatoon will hit about 1.7-2 million and Xenoblade will just hit around 1-1.2 million.

Splatoon is already more than 1.1 mln. So LT will likely be 2.5-3 millions.
And on Xenoblade... Original sold around 0.9 mlns on Wii. With a 100 mln installbase. I'm just amazed to know on what based the predictions of more then one million sales of X on WiiU with its install base of 10 times less...

Being more widely available at retailers will do some good for it. XC is of course infamously rare to find.

Do you think all 100 million Wii owners were actively buying Wii software in 2012? How about half of them?

Honestly, at this point, the WiiU has just a strong a userbase as the Wii did in it's late lifetime.

The original had limited availability in North America, the region where it also had the most appeal. It also was on the market for a short period of time. Furthermore, the attach rate of WIi U games is many times greater than the attach rate of WIi Games, and many are counting on the successor of a niche title selling more than the first niche title.

XCX is releasing almost a full month after Fallout 4. Might be the case that somebody who is finishing Fallout 4 wants more open-world RPG and decides to get Xenoblade X to fill in the gap. It might also be the case that they are RPG'd out. With how ravenous gamers are this day though, I think it is more likely the first than the second.
